What social “events” would you like now??

Hello flyers and outdoor enthusiasts! It’s been such an altered state during this pandemic...normal social activities canceled, etc. (My dog and I are way too close now, 11 mos of 24x7!) Got some bright ideas of other things we could do as a club to boost the social aspects of it in Covid safety com...

Hey flyers and friends! Jeff Bezos is the richest on the planet some weeks, and Amazon will donate a bit to the SHGA if you specify us as your designated charity!! We announced this shortly after gaining our Non-Profit status, and the checks have helped fund our club. But Amazon sales were up last y...

Re: Falcon 1, 170

I recommend Falcons :D I’ve flown 15 happy years on mine. I’ve bet my last altitude and landed out all over the place - seems a great glider for that

Career presentation for Sylmar Schools

Here’s an excellent way for us to be valuable to Sylmar, helping the club be something this community wants to remain here: The local school system requests candidates to do a 45 minute presentation on your career area, what it takes to get into it, the financial opportunity in it, and your career p...

Airspeed is What You Need - DON'T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!

From Steve Murillo (who has flow from aircraft carriers): Arthur Simineau and I decided to go to Crestline this past Saturday. Winds on launch were light and variable, I'd guess 2-8 mph, blowing mostly straight in with the occasional minor cross from the NW. I'm flying a Sport 2 155. As I approached...

And, you'll be a better first responder if you know how to find a person's ICE contact(s) on their phone. Here's instructions to set this up, and how to find the contact ...

Sorry for the lack of clarity...I posted this for someone who flies a ton and has launched unhooked before, and just couldn't get the website to work As my dad and I discussed Monday night, I think it's interesting to notice that familiarity seems to create unreliability with human perception. We're...

Mid-Feb Hook-In Failure

"Hook in failure revisited I did it again. In the setup area I hooked my harness in before getting into it. I separated the four straps (each side for main and backup), put the carabineer around two of them, and locked the gate. I gave two more visual inspections. Yes, two straps going through ...

Amazon Smile donates to USHPA

Smile.Amazon.com is a parallel site Amazon has that allows you to pick a charity that they'll donate a bit of your purchase to. USHPA is now a listed charity there. Amazon says they donate a portion that they would have otherwise spent on advertising. You just do your ordering from smile.amazon.com ...

Why WiFi

I'd like to see the WiFi cost in the dues because I see value for club longevity in having the LZ a great place for pilot families to hang out while they fly.

I'm wanting bathrooms for the same reason.
