I am interested in going. Will it be possible to get a glider (and a body) ride? I'm willing to split gas and buy more than my fair share of rounds of beverages. I still need to book a room, but I was going to wait until I see what happens with my ride situation.

Are you looking for an LZ buddy?

His name is Butch. This little puppy followed me home when I was walking my other dog. He was most likely abandoned in the fields near my house. He wasn't chipped and none of my neighbors seem to know him. I've been preparing to keep him, but I would like to find him a new home. I had someone that w...

I intend to fly. I'm not sure if you will need my vehicle as a launch shuttle. I can take a total of three gliders on my jeep. I don't know if Season will be up for the drive. She is not keen on heights and if I remember, the road up to launch is steep and/or near drop offs at some points. So we may...

OP, the ladies would be a bit chilly don't you think. OK. Weather decision time... I'm coming either way. I've seen reports of the rain and clouds clearing by the afternoon with southwest winds. It may not be the best flight and we may get skunked, but the food will be hot and the drinks will be col...

Saturday January 26th LZ Cookout and.....

....Bachelor Party. Or at least, I'm beginning the bachelor party there. Yes, I'm getting married and I felt like starting my bachelor party at the LZ before heading out to Pasadena for a night of bar hopping. A couple of my non-flying buddies are flying tandem. We are bringing a grill, food, and dr...

I would come more for the party the flying. The flying site isn't the greatest in the world. Anthill is an appropriate name. It's a bluff a few hundred feet high that faces Northwest. It's most reliable in the summer months when the afternoon winds kick-up. Most flights involve ridge soaring (and if...

Tehachapi Contact

Well I'm back in California. (See the Cinco De Fly-O post in events) I bought into the group that built the ramp at the El Rancho launch in Tehachapi, so I can get access anytime. If anyone is interested, let me know. We are literally launching out of someone's backyard (lucky buggers), and the prop...

1st Annual Anthill Cinco de Fly-O

Okay it's actually my house-warming party, although there could be an opportunity for you to fly and even land nearby. You will notice that my posts now say Bakersfield instead of Houston. Yes, I moved back to Bakersfield -- I never thought I would say that either. Next Saturday May 5th, I will be h...

It's been awhile since I've been to Bob's house, can someone email me his address? I don't expect anyone to post it on a public site. I anticipate getting into town late afternoon early evening on Saturday. So I'll likely miss the fun at the beach, but I wouldn't mind catching up with everyone at th...

Labor Day Weekend?

Anyone planning anything for Labor Day weekend? I'll be in the area from the weekend before through the weekend after. I was thinking about heading up to Hurricane. If nobody else is going, I may go up mid week to avoid holiday weekend traffic.

John,

On another topic, I'm heading out west for a two week trip. Do you know if the primary LZ for Slickrock near Porterville is still open?

Actually, I was planning on a west coast flying trip for two weeks around Labor Day weekend and I was going to drag along one or two of my Texas flying buddies. We'll be hitting many of the Southern California sites and maybe a few in either Utah, Northern California or perhaps even Mexico (I know w...

The site where you land at the horse corral is Bear Mountain which is a little further north from this site. BTW - to launch Bear Mountain, you need to go all the way into Tehachapi and come back through Bear Valley Springs and you need a pass to get to launch and a key to get down to the corral. Th...

Not exactly an amazing flight, but ...

Not exactly an amazing flight, but I did do some nifty one-handed ground handling. Perhaps it was amazing because I did fly from one of the highest AGL's within an hour's drive of Houston. The conditions weren't exactly conducive to soaring without getting REALLY close to the terrain. I should have ...
