Very sad news indeed. Like many club members, I've known Rome since I began flying.
Do you know if he would like any visitors?

My PG Instruments
Hi Jay, Thanks for finding my flight deck with a Flymaster SD Live, Brauniger Competino (5020), Garmen 60csx, XC Tracer (black box - first vario with real-time response), and a ball compass. I think the Competino and Garmin are marked F. Winter on the inside of battery covers. Since I was otherwise ...

Mad Mike Küng as your tandem pilot?
Would you choose a guy named "Mad Mike" Küng as your tandem pilot? It's not surprising that his passenger, Ewa Wisnierska, hasn't always shown the best judgement. A few years back, she managed to get sucked up to 32,600 ft in ...

Iquique Trips
A friend of mine, Todd Weigand, who is a paragliding instructor, organizes several trips to Iquique each year. I'm sure he could hook you up with something to carry your hang gliders - maybe a pack mule

Monday?
Forecast is for light south winds in the Owens on Monday. I'm planning to fly from Walt's or Paiute then on my way back from Sun Valley. Anyone else going to be there?

Laundry Day
Count me in for the 1/16/09 clinic, which at $40 is a great deal. Last time I went to one of Betty Pfeiffer's clinics, it was quite a bit more than that.
How much more will it be to repack a second reserve?

Re: Unsafe Bag-Craft
Talk about safety You're absolutely right - paragliding is dangerous, which in turn must mean that hang gliding is safe. Just read the perpetual circle-jerking to that effect on the oz report forum, hanggliding.org, etc. Truth is in the obsession, eh? BTW, Bob and I each flew the same Apco Zen for ...

Memorial for Jeff Craig
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend Jeff's Memorial at Kagel tomorrow since I'll be on my way to release several rescued raptors (birds of prey) in the Owens Valley. One of them is a Red-Tailed Hawk, which I will release Saturday afternoon in Jeff's honor. Like most of us at Kagel, I'm sure Jef...

So Cal XC League also at Crestline this Weekend
Dean Stratton writes: "Let me start off by saying that Marshall has been off the hook over the last few days. Since Monday, pilots have been getting up between 8-10k routinely. The best part is that the weather is forecasted to stay exactly the same way until this coming Monday. This weekend co...

Keep a Copy in Your Harness
It's also a good idea to keep a copy of your emergency information in your harness. This should probably include your name, address, blood type, insurance information, any allergies or other medical conditions, and emergency contacts. A 3x5 index card works well for this.
