Windsports Hang Gliding | Flight School Campus Tour
Eric Muss-Barnes has been producing some great videos to promote hang gliding. His most recent video features learning through Windsports. Here's Eric's post on U.S. Hawks : Beyond being a guide to the world-famous Windsports Hang Gliding School, this video serves as a great guideline for schools ar...

Re: Calling USHPA's Bluff
Ken Andrews is a nice enough guy. He follows in the footsteps of many "nice enough" guys in Region 3. I would include Bill Helliwell, Dan DeWeese, and Alan Crouse among them. But when it comes to dealing with USHPA's "insiders", Ken is out of his league (and I don't mean the Fal...

Re: Ken Andrews is a tall and brave pilot
"Can anyone find where Ken Andrews has provided any justifiable reason why the Torrey Hawks Chapter was not renewed during Ken's first term (and remains unrenewed to this day)?" Let the record show that Ken has provided no answer. USHPA refused to renew the Torrey Hawks out of retaliation...

52nd Anniversary of Otto Meet - May 23, 2023
Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 will be 52 years since the first Otto Lilienthal hang gliding meet was held back in 1971. Several of us will be meeting at Dockweiler to celebrate Otto's birthday with a day of flying. Everyone is welcome. All that's required is a signed and approved waiver from Los Angeles C...

50 Flights at Dockweiler on March 28th, 2023
I had a fun day at Dockweiler this past Tuesday flying under the county waiver. The conditions were comfortable, and I flew over 50 flights with some soaring in a Condor 225. The video is available here:

Otto Meet May 23, 23
The 2023 Otto Lilienthal Birthday Celebration is just around the corner. This year, Otto's Birthday (May 23) falls on a Tuesday when Windsports is normally closed. The Dockweiler waiver, however, allows us to fly for free on days when Windsports is closed. The waiver takes some time to be approved, ...

Christmas Flying at Dockweiler 2022
The forecast for Dockweiler on Christmas Day was light onshore about 5 to 6 mph. But I hadn't flown in many months, so I decided to celebrate Christmas with a little bit of air time. I added the video of my 10 flights to our Friends of Dockweiler Gliding Society log here: https://ushawks.org/forum/v...

Re: PM with OP
P.S. I did a quick search of the U.S. Hawks web site and found this picture of Sarah (below). It's one of many from several visits to UCSD with Little Hawk over the years. You can find more pictures from that day (and other UCSD visits) at these links: https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&...

Re: Calling USHPA's Bluff
I started this topic on April 18th, 2016 which was a few months after Ken Andrews became a USHPA Director. I had asked Ken to look into reversing my expulsion, and he wrote to a friend: "I've told Bob many times that if he would stop attacking Torrey and USHPA, then I would work to get his memb...

Congratulations to Lynden ... and to Joe!
If his luck holds, he'll be stopping by Dockweiler for a few flights after every landing at his home port ... of LAX.

Re: Calling USHPA's Bluff
I had a dream a few days ago that Rome Dodson was alive and well although it was in and alternate reality with different California geology. UCLA medical had restored/rejuvenated his lungs and measured his estimated longevity to be 103. He is still pretty old so he tried paragliding and landed in a...
