Joe Greblo for President!

Hey Joe-I'm going to write you into my ballot for President of the United States. I was going to write in Ron Paul, but that's another story. Thanks to you and all the other pilots for taking care of all of our collective asses. Thanks to your hard work I still have a beautiful Falcon 3 sitting peac...

Let's do this

As one who likes to be reachable, and who needs to reach out on occasion, I am for this enhancement to the LZ. As a safety issue, anything we can do to improve things is almost a mandate. I'm in for $20 or whatever the board deems is necessary.

Big Sur was AWESOME!!

This Big Sur trip will undoubtedly go down as one of the great HG trips of all time! We'll be sitting around some camp fire somewhere reminiscing about past trips and someone will say "remember that Big Sur trip in '08?" and a priveleged few will be able to share a chuckle. Someone else wi...

Issues in the Landing environment

In light of the recent fatality, I feel responsible to at least post a recent landing experience and allow other pilots to draw any useful iinformation from it that they can. I am an H2 with roughly 30 Kagel flights under my belt. In other words, a Newbie. My glider is a Falcon 3. On a recent Kagel ...

Happy to do both

I can see the immediate need to help Andy Jackson at Crestline. As hang gliding pilots, it is in all of our best interests to support one of our own, wether or not we've ever flown the Crestline site. Our community is extremely small, and unless we stick together, residential development will relega...

Changing the way we fly

Hang gliders are most visible to other traffic when a wing is pitched up. In addition to vigilence, perhaps we could form the habit of pitching a wing up to say 45 degrees at the exit of a thermal, or when leaving one way point for the next. I dont know if this is a practical suggestion, but I'd be ...

What to bring

BJ!

I haven’t seen you at the LZ in a long time. Anyway, I can bring some potato salad and a six pac of soda and a 12 pac of beer. Sound good?

Sincerely,

Nose cone problem

Good stuff. The diagram says it all and it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the input.

Nose cone problem

Inquiring Newbies want to know! Was it partially detached, fully detached, flapping in the wind above the glider, playing poker, out shopping with the wife and kids, what? My Falcon 3 has a nose cone as well, so any information you can share is relevant and appreciated. Note to F3 owners; if you fai...

the 2 days are mandatory for sign off

I just spoke to Hungary Joe. You must complete ground school and the 3 flights to get signed off. This will take both days. In case of inclement weather, the clinic will go next week end.

I made the SHGA News Blast!

Such an honor bestowed on such a newbie pilot.

I was able to pick up my iPod from Surfer Bob the very night that I discoverd the post. Thanks very much to Bob for picking it up, and for being such a decent person. It's nice to know that we fly with such good people in our midst.

Nano found! thanks to Surfer Bob

I thought I lost the Nano in flight, so never thought to search the lost and found. Then this evening, some four months later... what do you know? And to top it off, Surfer Bob is my neighbor out here in Manhattan Beach!

C'mon, the Haiku are nice

But who doesnt like a limmerick? There once was a man from Rangoon....etc. I'm new to hang gliding and this forum. Looking forward to the banter. Personally, I'm just glad Janyce is OK. Who else is going to challeng you guys on the mountain? By the way, the Haiku were good, but Flamejob gets my vote...
