Bob K

Sure, Bob K is perfectly within his rights to film, but his demeanor and attitude are inflammatory. He knew that his presence there would draw aggression. In fact, I believe that was his mission...to start something. He resents the control that those guys have over the launch and the concessions. Th...

Bob and Torrey

I understand Bob's point. Safety should be paramount, but in my estimation, he does nothing to further the sport. He makes himself a nuisance and never lets up. He wants to represent our hang gliding community and I believes he has good intentions, but his execution is nothing but destructive. I'm n...

Owens

Kia flys the Owens most every weekend. He says that you can launch as early as 8:30 AM or 9 and still get a great flight! Probably a good idea to launch early for H-3s.

Accident Report

As tragic and sad as this accident was, we can all take away something that will make us better pilots. I commend the accident review team for putting together such a comprehensive and well written report. I found Juan's comments particularly helpful. Many thanks to all of you.

Funsten

Me and OP headed up Memorial Day weekend and put the "Fun" back into Funston. The weather kind of sucked; wet, cold, cloud base 300 ft above launch, but that shit was blowing in! We flew at 9, 10, noon, you name it. Up and away, a few passes. Land, do it again. We worked it two days straight. Nothin...

Fatal Crash

Thank you for posting this, Frederick. It is indeed a sad thing and we all miss Markus very much. Your post here helps to give us some closure. It does not ease the pain and sadness, but at least helps us to understand.

Thanks for posting this, Lynn. Many of Markus' SHGA friends have been making contributions. Margaret really needs the help, so that's nice to see.

I'm still thinking Funston. Thinking about leaving the LZ Friday night and making it to Salinas by around 12.

Markus

Markus was the kind of guy everyone could get along with. His smile was infectious. So was his zest for life and sense of adventure. Whenever he came out to fly, he was enthusiastic and his happiness beamed. You KNEW this was something he loved to do. I will miss my friend Markus, as will all of you...

PIO on approach

Malibu pilot pulls off a difficult approach. Pilot was flying an Aeros Combat from around 2001, and the rumor is that it may have been his first time on the glider. The Aeros Combat is notoriously the most difficult to fly topless glider ever made. Joey has two of them, wont fly them anymore. It app...
