I fly the small U2. I am a bit heavy for it, hooking in at about 215 lbs.
I calculate between 1.86 to 1.95 per sq ft. And I enjoy great authority over the glider. Bottom of the stack, but thats just me.

I think I am right in the sweet spot on my Sport 2 155 at about 1.83 lb/ft.

Steve,
To learn from your own mistake is smart.
To learn from another person's mistake is brilliant.

I'd rather have a Bottle In Front of Me than a Frontal Lobotomy. All kidding aside, nerve damage can be a devastating condition. It can take 6 months just to recognize you have damage. When I injured my right wrist it took 3 months to notice increasing weakness and muscle atrophy. It took Kaiser 2 m...

Thanks for sharing this story Greg. Interestingly, Kris Speegle runs an Allstate Insurance agency here in Hilo, Hawaii. I just got car insurance there.

I will visit him and share this article soon.

Happy New Year to everyone in our club!

The one time that I failed to get in my leg loops I landed the way Rob did. I stood on the boot with one leg, getting out at the last moment and hanging by my arm pits momentarily. It was an acceptable landing but what if something else had gone wrong on this flight? The real question is how can a p...

I agree with M@rkus. These are great videos! It's nice to have video of a good landing.
Getting the video to play on my computer was much harder than landing a glider though. Thanks for your advice.

Gee Tom,
I am only seeing a blank page with the Box header on top.
Do I need to create an account with them? Are other pilots seeing the files?

It takes a lot of self confidence to set out on a journey like that on your own Dave. Congratulations to you!

It's also nice to have a trusted driver find an LZ for you. Erwin McDavid did that for me and some other pilots on a 14 mile flight long ago. I'll always remember that day.

I have a 6030 and it displays both Barometric and GPS. My GPS is in a "user field" If I assign the user field to another value, like air temp etc., then the GPS is not displayed.

If you flew over it, it must be Fire Camp 9 that you saw. I see three rocket rocket launchers there (from the air). You would need to get permission from the county fire dept. There are many more Nike Base sites sprinkled around LA's mountains. Some were rocket launch sites and others were Radar sit...
