Elsinore Entertainment

For those of you who don't read my drivel on hanggliding.org, I'll just paste in my recent follies here: I had a wonderful 2 1/2 hour flight at Lake Elsinore on Saturday and was determined to land in Everyday Mike's new LZ. I watched another pilot (Mike Blakely) land while I was boating around 2,500...

.........I'm in for $20 bucks (even though it doesn't work for Nextel phones). Joe It helps your students call home and gloat about their experiences. It also helps our club's guests and visitors which ultimately helps bolster membership. We all win with this effort to make or LZ more modern than b...

Funny About That

I forgot about the temporary repeater install and was amazed that I was able to get 2-3 bars on my T-Mobile phone in the parking lot. I made my $ contribution. I hope everyone else who volunteered has also done so.

Good Tracklogs & Video Wanted for Holiday Party!

Hey Everyone! We need good tracklogs as well as old and new video segments to create a worthwhile, 45-minute retrospective for the club's holiday party. I plan to run the tracklogs in SeeYou 3D animation and do video capture. It can be combined with photos or video from the same flight for more impa...

Bill Liscomb's Movie - Big Blue Sky

I posted my review here: http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?t=9203

This would make a great 78 minute experience for a club meeting. Learn about your roots in case you weren't there.

Re: Leaning right .....

Looks like you prefer to thermal right :) Most og your good altitude gains are to the right and tighter than the left turns. :o Lefty - Loosey, Tighty - Righty   I am indeed a righty when it comes to thermalling. I will reverse directions when I get tired. My stats: Circling: Time Vario A...

Kareening Around Kagel - A Time-Lapse Video

O.k. You've seen my video of climbing in the tight thermal core on Tuesday. Well, here's the entire 85-minute flight in a 3 1/2 minute complete re-edited with a soundtrack by Iggy Pop. I hope you all enjoy viewing it as much as I did doing the edit. Click here for high quality version..................

pretty cool but my computer's running to slow to see it smoothly. I'll run it on my Macbook Pro and see if it runs better. I like the mix of graphics and video. It looks to me like your ascent rate on the downwind portion of each turn is about the same as on the upwind portion. Is it? Hi Joe, My as...

Coring a tight column of lift - Video

3,846' to 5,647' between Trash and Kagel yesterday. Note: the circles were down to 110' in diameter and 7.5 seconds per revolution. It was that kind of day near Kagel. Good for hawks and R/C sailplanes and jellyfish.

Cleaned Up LZ Seen From The Sky!

I hadn't been back to the LZ since before the fire. It looks great. I thought everyone did an incredible job cleaning it up. I'm proud to be a member of the SHGA. Since I was too sick to make the LZ clean-up I make this modest contribution of a composite map of the LZ with accurate 50' grid squares. If anyone needs a different scale for the grid, or any angles changed just let me know. Click the image for the full scale version. http://photos.imageevent.com/a...
