Larry Chamblee is Recovering

Today, Larry was admitted for a scheduled back surgery. At this writing, the surgery went as expected and he is resting comfortably, expecting discharge home, tomorrow.

And he's looking forward to a return to pain-free flight soon.

Time to buy some coyote pee repellent...

No wonder Mike's new glider has that 'NEW SKUNK' smell.

Woody Valley Harness Check

It had been about a year since I checked the friction rope in my harness, the one that the slider moves on to adjust flight attitude. At that time, the harness was about six months old and the rope was still in perfect condition. I usually spray a silicone lubricant on it to help keep it that way. T...

Holiday Party Entertainment

Last year, I set up Kevin's projector with all the old Kagel Member photos looping around for everyone to reminisce. Since then, I haven't added many new pictures to the collection. I think it would be kind of boring to repeat (not that it was that exciting the first time). A projector will be avail...

Whatever ways BK spins things (read his moon shot response - told you so - carefully: I call him on hyperbole, he spins it as an accusation of inaccuracy; he's a master dissembler). It appears that he would rather continue to believe that he's right about everything he perceives, than fly. Again, BK...

"Effectively" and "paraphrase" are not the same as 'literal' and do not warrant quotes. No one said those words. They are BK's interpretation. Just as I choose to interpret BK's words as hyperbole: Salem witch trials, comparison to Rosa Parks, accusing pilots of driving an...

Saying that Ken never gave an answer and then placing quotes around red text confuses readers, implying that Ken or someone else actually said those words. They are made up by the author, not Ken. Attempting to goad Ken into a response is counterproductive. All I have ever heard anyone in my circle ...

Incorruptible

Ken Andrews does not bluff. He doesn't know how. He is as guileless, straightforward and honest a soul as you could ever hope to meet. In 2016, he was also new to the director position and had no idea how much damage BK's chronic toxicity had inflicted on the USHPA, all of us as members, and even mo...

Radio Licensing Class Available

Lately, club pilots have been announcing their intent to land. This improves safety for all but those who do not have their FCC license to use a two-meter radio are prohibited from informing other pilots of their plans (although, they could legally monitor). I found an instructor who holds a one-day...

The Titanic was unsinkable, too.

It's OK JD, you'll always have Crestline so don't worry about losing Kagel.
All I'm saying is, we need to be vigilant.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Let Your Guard Down

We haven't heard anything about the property that includes our launch since it was taken off-market... Until now. The link is for the proposal for the Sylmar Heights development. At least there will be a shorter road to launch. http://www.sylmarlandview.com/artwork/pdf/Topographical.pdf At the momen...

This is posted on Facebook and got a bunch of thumbs up.
When did risking a fire in the pavilion become a good idea?

Update on Ron

I spoke with Ron's wife today. She told me that Ron will return home in early January. He will be staying at home, visiting therapy on an outpatient basis. After he gets settled, she thinks it will be beneficial and wants him to be able to visit the LZ and reconnect with his friends. I will help mak...

Ron Update

Denise called me a few minutes ago and sounded very happy about Ron's progress: The tracheotomy has been closed and Ron started eating yogurt but still has the feeding tube. They are working on muscle stimulation so he can gain better motor control. His right arm is still not moving much. He's walki...
