I'm SO sorry to hear about your friend Julieann! Maybe the Club would consider raising some money to sponsor a hole or donate an item for a silent auction (assuming there is one).

Do you know what sponsorship opportunities are available?

Wow! I understood the thermal-sensing glasses were only available to hang 4s. Maybe that's why yours only work on the ground.

Mark Nizer performs in Los Angeles

For those of you who don't know, Mark Neisser (Nizer) is a hang glider pilot who flew at Kagel for MANY years. He has several talents and one of his more notable talents is juggling. Mark and his family moved away several years ago and every once in a while, he comes back to LA. How cool is it that ...

Having served on the Board for several years under what I consider to be some of the best leadership the Club has had, I will say this: you do not have to be on the Board to contribute to the Club . It just takes identifying a need, dedication and personal energy. (And it helps to have other members...

CNN's SHGA story airs

The story Time Warner shot about our Club will air August 20th through August 21st on Time Warner Cable’s SoCal News. SoCal News airs the last five minutes of every half hour on CNN Headline News. So, you can look for it at the twenty-four (24) and fifty-four (54) minute marks of every hour. Mor...

Hey Everyone! While the barbecue is important, what's more important is that CNN wants to do a story on SHGA. What a COOL thing! The genesis of the CNN story came about when a producer for Time Warner's SoCal News (Vincent Tayborn) contacted Joe Greblo. He asked if he could profile the Sylmar Hang G...

I know of several pilots who are going and also encourage others with appropriate ratings to come along too.

Let's make a good showing for the CSS crowd.

Great used car for sale

Not a hang gliding or paragliding vehicle but a great low-mileage car for sale. Could be a first car or a commuter car. Belonged to my friend's mother. 1998 Toyota Corolla CE, 4-door, under 30,000 miles (not a typo) runs great, auto transmission, AC, dark blue. 36 MPG highway mileage. $5,500 ...

I feel bad for not sharing this information sooner but about three years ago I had a near miss with a small aircraft at Kagel. I was coming in to land and around 2,600-2,800 ft. over the corner houses of Santiago Estates when something in me said, "turn around and see if other pilots have follo...

Okay, 50 lashes with a wet noodle for you!

Seriously, thanks for stepping up here Rob. That lock is a hard to work and the first time I tried to lock it, it didn't catch. So I had to squeeze my big fat hands in there and try again.

Gate left unlocked on Sunday, April 6

All, Flying was GREAT on Sunday marred by one little thing--Kathy Moacanin found the gate unlocked when she came up the road that afternoon. There were only a few trucks/drivers) that came up that day (Cathy Thompson, Erwin, Dana and Paul Yardley are those I can remember). I found it hard to believe...

Man Bites Dog (that got your attention)

I understand that there was an incident in the LZ where some dogs got into a fight. I heard the fight was so vicious that people threw chairs at the dogs to break it up. I don't know if one or both dogs got hurt. This brings up the issue of the no dog rule. I know the Club has had the rule for many ...

Rome's Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Rome!

Celebrate Rome's 70-something birthday on Saturday, October 27, in the LZ. Rob Burgis will provide beverages so bring something to throw on the BBQ (elk anyone?). Hang out with the "Old Timer" and find out what it was like to fly with the pterosaurs.
