Feel free to use the IGNORE button.

Bob is keeping it in the politics area so seems that he's keeping it out of the general hang gliding topics.

You don't have to read his posts.

I've listen to a few requests about being able to just watch the cam without remote control. I've made that available for normal operating hours. 8am - Sunset Right now I've limited the number of viewers to 10, will increase if we need to. Still requires a login but there is no time limit on viewers...

Is there anything we can do so that the wifi supports wifi calling? This usually works by default unless it's blocked or the wifi is too slow. T-mobile has terrible coverage in the LZ and I think Sprint does also, so this would allow us to make and receive calls. I know I have made SIP (session ini...

Automation tests

Last night was a good test of the camera automation as a security camera. The camera is slewing to the preset location on the time that was programmed and then began taking pictures of any motion. Last night we got a lot of pictures as a result of the wind. Not a problem, as it helps set the benchma...

Security next

I'm working on getting the security settings for the camera setup now.

Trying to get it to trigger based on motion sensing. It's mostly working just tuning it now.

After that I'll try to get it to track once triggered. These settings would only be for night patrol.

Broadcasting is taking more CPU than I think we have. OK, not that I think, that I know. The broadcasting is too CPU extensive for the old computer I put in there to get the whole thing going. I'll get a better computer in the near future. So for the time being, the best thing to do is look at the w...

Is the wind good at Kagel?

There's a new image we update every 5 minutes between 6am - 30m after sunset. It will be here all the time as long as the WhackCam is operational. From 6am to 2pm, the camera will normally be pointed at the windsock. After 8am, the camera becomes available to users for control until 1:58pm, so the c...

Updates: PTZ cam up and operational. Have a few presets where you can see the Windsock, Landing Zone (spot), Gate Entrance, Bario, and Gazebo. To steer the camera, you need a login, that will be in the members only section. I have NOT updated the members only section just yet but it should be up the...

LZ Whack, Weather Cam

One step closer to the final installation. Dave Froschauer welded the mount plate to the awning above the soda machine today. After that I brought out the camera and hooked it up. While not mounted, I did successfully demonstrate the cameras capabilities to a few LZ regulars today while connected to...

Ojai Raptor Center Spring Open House Sunday, April 10, 2016

This last Sunday (April 3rd, 2016) Thomas from the Ojai Raptor Center came to our LZ and released a mature Red Tail female back into the wilderness. He was kind enough to let us all watch as he released her, where she promptly flew to the ball fields to the south and perched for a while. Thomas said...

The pole was lengthened, or rather, Richard Shaw climbed a ladder and placed it at the very top. He had to stand on the very top of the ladder and straddle the top two rungs to reach the very top. With the watchful eyes of the countless supervisors, North alignment looks acceptable. Should be moved ...

For strictly maintenance reasons, I placed the weather station lower so that battery replacements wouldn't require the need for a ladder when the time came. If you are volunteering to hike your ass up there when the batteries are going low, then we can move it. It's a wireless station running...

Our first failure. Temp/Humidity sensor appears to be down. Program says it's not the battery, and it shouldn't be based on the sun is out and providing power. I'll make a trip to the LZ later today or tomorrow.
