This is a fascinating subject, love learning about it, and I'm guessing it explains why they put salt on the roads in winter. However, you've all been focusing on the temperature and have therefore lost sight of the true prize....the beer. And what is the ideal temperature for beer? http://www.rateb...

Who is Rafferty? And who is Barton for that matter? I see their photos on the member list but I don't recall seeing them in the LZ. That could be because I'm a weekend flyer. Can someone please enlighten me as to where all this hate/anger stems from? Surely our common goal should be to fly together,...

Joe Greblo flies with one. He is also a dealer for them. I'm planning on getting one, just need to spend some time in the simulator first to see if it's for me.

I'd say we had a better day than Elsinore 8) Our numbers decimated by illness (RM, JD and Marshall were sick), Raffi and I nevertheless headed to Ave S, determined to get some air time. We were joined by Ron (a returning pilot who is back to the sport) and headed up to launch together. Winds were 15...

Will anyone be going to Ave S/L tomorrow from the LZ? There's a couple of us who would like to join.

I'm interested, but don't have a rack. If someone can provide transport from the LZ I'll happily chip in for my share.

Re: slideropen

Nice work keeping your cool, Greg, and thanks for sharing the experience .I was taught to open the harness just prior to the bridge for this very reason. I fly a Z-5 harness. Sure enough, on my last flight MY zipper stuck. I pulled hard a couple of times, then started fumbling for the Velcro, but I...

Since we have a small voting pool and every vote counts, I'd like to announce that I'm completely corruptible and will sell my vote to the highest bidder.

Thanks for the info Ken - what does the DAL's duties entail?

Is it possible to get a call sign and not give out your address? .... Use a P.O. box § 97.23 Mailing address. Each license grant must show the grantee's correct name and mailing address. The mailing address must be in an area where the amateur service is regulated by the FCC and where the grantee ...

Is it possible to get a call sign and not give out your address? I'm pretty anal about keeping my online and public information down to a minimum (to prevent screaming hordes of women finding me obviously), and it took me about 2 minutes to find your address Mike.

This looks great, thanks, appreciate the effort, and I definitely learned of a few new places. One question - what does the yellow shaded area by Towers mean?

Also, the "you are here" tag seems wrong. I'm miles away from the LZ viewing this, yet it shows me as being in the LZ :P

SHGA website

Just noticed that if you search google for "hang glide los angeles", SHGA doesn't show up on the first page. Windsports is #1 (good) then yelp.com then Fly Tandem at AJX. Bit odd as we're the only HG club in Los Angeles, and SHGA.com is a great website that deserves to be seen. Worth doing...
