That all sounds great except: The Forest Service is concerned about the off-roaders/dirt bikers and does not want them there. I think it would be a mistake to ask them to "join us in policing the Kagel track" without discussing that with the Forest Service first. We could really shoot ours...

Note that we might want to make sure it happens after the Worlds in Texas. Or not. Depends on if you want Phill there.... ;-)

Seriously, good luck Phill, and let's have a great party!

Christian is right. It was a big deal that the club was going to spend the money on those tables. The BOD gets yelled at when they do something, and yelled at when they wait to plan it out. Ken's steps are the compromise we have worked out between ignoring the membership and getting them involved in...

Ken's list: 7) Sign: I'd love to build one like they have at Crestline. I know Ken has seen it, but for those who haven't here's a description. There is a large cement "block" with recessed letters that spell out the name of the club. Also recessed, but less deeply is a "picture outli...

In reply to JT: Jim, sorry to harp on the "complaints to the BOD" thing. I forgot to look who was posting. You are right that of all the folks in the club you are one of the ones who supports the BOD when they deserve it. That gives you the right in my mind to complain when appropriate. As...

Item 5 (Trees): I didn't say it wasn't useful to put trees along the fence line!!! I only said that high bushes might do a better job of screening & give some shade. If we can put in trees for shade and low bushes for screening, that's good. As long as they will grow together without interfering...

Eric,

I live near Ave S and I went by yesterday to look for your PTT. I did not find it in the LZ. I could have missed it, but it was broad daylight when I looked. Do you know if you lost it on launch or in the LZ?

Either way, good luck finding it!

If we think we will be putting in a 3rd container later, then we should not spend much on anything that will get in the way. A roof maybe. Containers are expensive enough that we shouldn't buy one until we want it. And I agree that it might be hotter than we want inside one. I'd like to see a roof o...

So we have decided not to ever have a third storage container? If we want an enclosed club house, why don't we build one in place of the gazebo? Then we combine costs and leave room for the third storage container. Just a thought, and I have no strong opinion about it. However, if we want to elimina...

A few comments: #28 - Bill Bennet Memorial: Please be sure to wait until the Gazebo project has been finalized. You probably would have, but I just want to make sure. #98 - Initiation Fee: The original purpose of the Initiation Fee was to pay for the water hook up. We had to pay for that up-front, a...

George, you do realize I was giving you a back-ass-wards compliment? Yea, but I was going to change it anyway, and it is smaller now. Anyway, how should we go about getting more input from members? An e-mail blast asking them to send in their cards and letters? At a meeting (we're always so ...

George, did you ever notice how much your little creed at the end of a post takes up in valuable forum space? Solved :) A note about new construction: New posts will not have footings. The stirrups to hold them in place will have footings and the posts will be above grade to avoid rot and te...

OK, I just realized that I might have offended Jeff Chipman by my post. I HEREBY APOLOGIZE for not including the following paragraph as a preface to my discussion of the gazebo. "This post is in no way to be considered a disparagement of Jeff Chipman and/or anyone else involved in the RFP proce...

One other comment. Some might read my previous post as a condemnation of all of the free-flowing discussion on this topic. That is not the case. I'm thrilled about it. Even about the ideas that seem goofy to me. That's how we get ideas out there. I just want to make sure that when we are done discus...

OK, I wasn't going to get sucked into this discussion, but something that someone else said in a private email made me get off of my lurking duff and comment. So here's my (long) two cents worth. If we are going to do much more than a quick fix on the gazebo, I think we should replace it. As much as...
