Fatal Crash

At 3pm May 9th, the pilot was thermalling somewhere between 100-200ft above the top of Towers (AKA Contract Point). The pilot appears to initiate a right turn into lift when suddenly the glider begins go weightless and gets forced out of the right turn and rolled to the left. The left roll was stron...

Audit option for H2s

This RLF clinic is fabulous, and there's another option for those not ready for RLFs: "audit" the ground school portion of it. Show up at 8am Saturday, and hear H Joe's ground school on landings -- part will be in the Pavillion, and part on-site at some bail-out LZs. Really fabulous to see...

My 2005 Mosquito harness came with one of those. We tossed it out (replaced with Stubai) cuz it had a little line on it near a corner, after a little bit of use.

Carabiner pictured in my Avatar photo, left - learning to launch from flat ground : )

Launch/Landing trip this weekend?

I'd also be up for a trip to El Mirage this Sat/Sun to practice launch and landing. You can do a lot of those there in one pass up the lake. Email or call me if you're interested!

Calling all Mosquito Pilots!

It's that time of year again -- low sun angles making very smooth air. Time for some great scenic powered flying. I'd like to coordinate some flying trips. There's a bunch of interesting things to see around here. Fillmore valley, Trona Pinacles, North side of the San Gabriel Wilderness, .... Contac...

Local Pilot Photos on Mosquito Harness Website !

http://www.swedishaerosport.se/products/products/ Hey, check it out! Swedish Aerosports used my photos all over their website. In the header and footer of the various pages (they change each time you open a page), that's Lynden on the red glider, Joe on the White/red leading edge, flying south of La...

I'd signed up on the Yosemite HG club site a few weeks ago, but have had a schedule change such that I cannot go, unfortunately. I just entered a cancellation on the YHGC website.

I think the point about the angle of the steep no-wind launch is great. I wonder if there's also an impact to that situation from the jaw-dropping vista right in front of you and the drop-off/cliff down a short bumpy launch ramp. I notice those had very significant impact on me and that impact has t...
