Maybe we could get some "heavy metal" rock movers?

count me in
I have never been able to get to the party, and this year may sadly be no exception. So someone please yell YES for me. I think this is a great idea.

Who said it was a terrible idea?
I'm glad the table is being used. The reasons for it being moved all make good sense. But I never said it was a terrible idea. I raised some reasons why it might not a good location (and those reasons were countered effectively). My main point was simply that it would have been nice to tell Daryl ah...

You make all excellent points, and I don't disagree. I should clarify that I am not actually against the table being up there. My main concern is that, if I had done something that nice for the club and put in that many hours doing so, I would have at least have wanted to be asked before my gift was...

Picnic table on launch
I just wanted to note that my conversation with Daryl (sorry if I spelled it wrong) about the picnic table he built being brought up top to launch. I thanked him, and he gently said it was not his idea. When I pressed him further, he admitted that he did NOT want the table put up there, and that he ...

Video from REALLY REALLY HIGH
OK, it's actually still shots from the Hubble, but you still might enjoy it. Total chill music. Works best on full screen and HD (720 or 1080). Enjoy! After a stressful day, it's just what the doctor ordered!

bad press indeed
Bob, You wrote: "But this was just stupid ... not the posting ... the flying." First, I fully support your post. But I would add that I think the posting may have been even worse than the flying. By risking this stunt, they risked at least two lives (depending on where they could have cras...

Some fun Hang Gliding History You Might Not Know!
I just read this fun factoid off the back cover of the June 2008 issue of Skiing Heritage magazine. Some skier's "invented" a biplane-type hang glider, and it worked! Except, apparently for steering and landing. Check out the jpg below. The text is worth the quick read. http://purepiano.co...

Erwin's memorial
I wish I could be there, but I am unable to. I will be there in spirit, though, and I could actually tell a few stories....like the time he actually wore a suit and tie (albeit a bit too tight) to attend a wedding in Yosemite that I also attended. If I can find a picture, I will post it as proof!

Seabass's street sign suggestions.
I absolutely LOVE the street sign suggestions! And before someone gets worried that we would have to put up a new one every time we lose a pilot, I think we should limit it to the truly great contributors and oldtimers. And, we could simply add signs for them on the same poll, just pointing in diffe...

A legend in his own time
Erwin was a terrific man. He was indeed a gentle spirit, and even if you riled him up, it never lasted. He was also a kind man who made us all better people for knowing him. I was privileged to know him since 1994, and I will miss him greatly. How many of us would have had MANY fewer flights were it...

Wayne
I called, Rome. Got his son Orion. Wayne is sleeping a lot and is typically not up for phone calls. But folks can STILL call and leave a message. It encourages him and his family to know there are people who care as he gets ready.
