Yesterday, I was flying at 4310', almost up the ridge to the missle silo site above towers, heard a strange sound, looked up and saw a Southwest going directly above me, 300-400' up.
I'd read Malury's post of 3950' last week, but didn't think I was high enough above the ground yet to start looking for jets coming through -- didn't think they would get that close to the terrain.
What's that movie with the 2 air traffic controllers (Billy Bob and ___) who go out and stand at the end of the runway and get blown through the air when the jet comes in to land and the wash gets them airborn? I don't think those are realistic scenes -- our 80% water makeups can't actually take what they showed.
Seems like we've an even bigger problem than I'd perceived. If my estimates are correct, that places the jet at 4-600' off the ground in the middle of an area we usually fly.
After a retreat to some low scratching (ironic to have that suddenly feel so much safer), I went back and tried looking for jets every 360 for a little bit to see how possible it is to see them, but never saw another.
Yikes.... I'd been planning to get older then Rome by eating like Janyce but flying like Joe.

(The movie you're talking about is "Pushing Tin".)Freddy wrote:What's that movie with the 2 air traffic controllers (Billy Bob and ___) who go out and stand at the end of the runway and get blown through the air when the jet comes in to land and the wash gets them airborn? hmmmmmmmmm............I don't know about that, but here are 2 links to videos showing what the jet blast from large airliners can do to cars (which weigh much more than that normal human.

And yet some videos of tests that NASA did about wake turbulence.
