COMPETIONS AT THE DAHLSTEN

Post by Jim »

I made up a list of rules for Hang 2 pilots that may compete for the duration contest this Saturday:

DAHLSTEN DURATION CONTEST RULES
1. Open to Hang-2 w/sign-off, ONLY.
2. Single Surface gliders (Alpha, Falcon or equivalent aspect ratio), ONLY.
3. Competition Opens at 11:00 closes at 17:00, you may land later but it won't count beyond 17:00.
4. Total time from launch to land as measured by instrument or keep track manually.
5. Round ELAPSED time UP to nearest minute
(ex. 13:30:15 – 12:45:14 = 00:45:01, round up to 00:46).
6. Honor system in effect; if you cheat, we’ll know!
7. Tie-breaker: experience of pilot –
Less Experience = Winner.
8. Don’t do anything stupid and have FUN!

A results board will be available in the pavilion for competitors to record their times.

It was suggested that I also add some rules for the Spot landing contest:

DAHLSTEN SPOT LANDING RULES
1. Open to all pilots.
2. Competition Opens at 11:00, Closes at 16:00.
3. Distance measured in inches, rounded UP to nearest inch (ex. 120 ¼ inches, round up to 121).
4. Distance measured from center of bull’s eye to pilot’s closest heel at final rest , not where you first touched.
5. Opinion of measuring official is FINAL – don’t argue.
6. Tie-breaker: experience of pilot –
Less Experience = Winner.
7. Don’t crash trying to get closer to the bull’s eye –
there is no Golden Dart trophy!
