Rattlesnake season

Post by Vrezh »

It’s that time of the year again, folks.
Beware of rattlesnakes!
I’ve seen them on the road to launch and around the setup area recently,
and this one was curled up near my harness under the setup glider today.
Hang your harness from your glider rather than laying
it down on the ground.
Stay out of the grass, where you can’t see the ground.
I am told there should be a snake bite kit inside the first aid kit box under the picnic table, near the windsock.
We’ll check it next time we are there.
For the adventurous type, who land out frequently,
(hi Jonathan), it’s a good idea to have a kit in the harness.
See you out there!

May 22, 2022, Wisconsin Paul died from a rattlesnake bite while hiking on a trail a few miles East of Andy Jackson Airpark.
His cell phone did not have a signal due to his location. I never fly without my SPOT 4 GPS tracker. If I am bitten I'll hit the SOS button.
Here's the rattler that was keeping Vrezh's harness free of rodents.
