Why give USHPA advanced warning of plans against them?

Post by dhmartens »

Like Batman and Robin, Forbes, Haas and the rest are well to do volunteers, not CEOs that pull down $20 million annually. Or it could be because of a character flaw.

I wouldn't say that the US Hawks has plans against USHPA. The US Hawks just wants to bring fairness to hang gliding pilots and clubs.

It is unfortunate that USHPA finds itself opposing things like fair representation for hang gliding at Torrey, open voting by USHPA Directors, and due process for pilots everywhere.

Even so, the US Hawks doesn't plan against USHPA. We are just charting a different course for ourselves and for those who want to join us.

As for Forbes and Hass, history should remember them for being at the helm when USHPA lost the insurance policy that USHPA members had purchased for decades.

The Riddler warning Batman is like warning USHPA that their California insurance renewal this spring is in jeopardy because they are violating provisions of the RRG discrimination against competitors clause.

Open bidding for Torrey is a separate issue, one of free market. The glider port can be redeveloped with a hang gliding bunny hill. The current mgt may be ineligible to bid due to some current problems and practices they are dealing with. This too can be resolved in court or some other venue should they re-win the lease.

The RRG is always one or two lawsuits away from going bankrupt.

Recreational land use statutes were created to open up land for recreational use.

Why doesn't USHPA help clubs establish recreational uses for sites?

Because USHPA isn't controlled by recreational pilots anymore.
