It is hard to tell from the video exactly how close Richard came. But if I am judging the distance correctly, Juan Coral (sp?) once did the same thing to me, only much closer. I actually thought he could have lowered his hand and touched my glider as he passed, or so it seemed. He was, of course, going very fast to allow for emergency escape speed. I didn't see or hear him until he passed. It was one of the scariest flying instants of my life. Funny after the fact, though. But I was glad to realize it was Juan, and glad it wasn't someone else, like.... Ludwig? ;-)

Well, he wasn't close enough for a high-five, but there was a brief adrenaline spike before my brain figured out which way he was going.

Hey Tom. How can you say you were startled? I can hear your aircraft proximity warning going off moments before I came into frame.
