Add my name to the Batter's Box. All I have to do is take the test and a few more launches.

This will enable us to have 4 days of flying for all that want to fly Yosemite, as our group has grown to more than are permitted to fly on a single day. I am sure we can get all that want to fly, in the air.
I plan to go up on Thursday the 14th so I can help get spots on Friday. Come on up early!

Steve, I thought my first flight there was worth all it'd take for a person to get an H4. Astonishing!

I am scheduled to monitor August 20 & 21. Please go to yhga.org to sign up. I'll post any updates on LZ and camping conditions on this thread.

Just Fly!

I'm going no matter whether there's flying or not. My kids go back to school two weeks after my scheduled monitoring, and I have commitments the following weekend, so that's my last chance to go to Yosemite for the year.

So, short of some emergency, I'll be there July 23/24. Contact me if you want to try and fly. I'll leave town July 22nd, so contact me before that. Otherwise, if nobody is signed up, I might not go to launch, and you'd get no chance to fly.

Keep a watch on the river (as will I) and I'll post more info if I get some.

River is still high as of July 4.
They are still saying Bridalveil might open on July 15, but I won't hold my breath. The snow-pictures from Barton were pretty impressive.

So far, the only 1st come 1st served campground available in (semi) reasonable distance to launch is Tamarack Flat. Boil the water (you get it from the creek) or bring your own. No trailers or campers.

I'll keep watching. I still plan on going, flying or not, especially since I'm going up Thursday (extremely) early and expect I can get a site.

405 closure

Post by nzlinus »

Hey guys, just a reminder that July 16/17 is the 405 freeway closure, so probably very heavy traffic on Friday and possibly Monday too...

Have fun,
Lin.

The National Park Service web page for Yosemite just today (14th) listed Bridalveil Campground as opening on July 15th. (Tomorrow)

They also have the water level down to under 5 feet gage height. I assume that means that we can at least camp. Flying also looks possible, but not yet a definite. Those wanting to go the 23/24th still have about 8 days for the water level do go down and the LZ to dry (some).

I'd expect that Joey's or Will's dates are even more likely to be doable. But I'm stuck not being able to go later in the season. :-(

I'm going, short of some emergency.

I have verified that the campground is open. Still no word on the condition of the LZ. I'll let you all know on Monday or Tuesday when I return.
