Owens Valley 4th of July

Post by hgflyboy »

Anyone interested in the O this coming weekend? Forecast is looking good - high pressure, light east/southeast winds, hot as hell. Orion sounded very interested, maybe Markus and Ken?, Lisa and Kia might drive chase. I can leave Thursday or Friday.

Come on kids! Let's head to Mecca!

It looks like it will have to be a crazy weekend warrior trip for me.

Meaning, getting crushed in the weekend traffic escaping LA on Friday afternoon. Charging hard for 3 days. Then cramming back in the the city Monday night along with everyone else.

I wanted to do the Steve M. Utah trip. But I can't break out of work on friday.

Update: Based on offline discussions and frightening thermal forecasts, the interest in this trip has dwindled enough to warrant cancellation.

As a self-preserving alternative, OP and I are planning a camping/flying trip to Soboba and Lake Elsinore this weekend.

As always - the more, the merrier, so let us know if this sounds appealing to you.

Details to follow.

Current forecast has it blowing SW on Saturday, even in the morning. Odds of flying Horseshoe would be very low.

Maybe the other side would work. But it is getting to the strong season, that's for sure.
