That valley captures a lot of solar energy. 1500 Watts/square meter. Gigawatt hours of hot air rise off the range on the left, its got a few 14ers. Super epic flights to New Mexico are common.
Sounds like they are going to have an international pull to this event. Looks like lake view OR's chamber of commerce got outdone.
Live music
Food vendors
Showers
Toilets
Beer sponsors (new belgium; fat tire)
You owe it to yourself and to the idea of free flight to be there. Anything less is an act of treason to your self, country, and God.

Let me also notice:
We are now wanted in many communities. We are respected, high quality people whom neighbors want us in their neighborhoods.
Lakeview OR's chamber of commerce spends a bunch to attract us.
Zapata TX is willing to drop 5 to 10k to bring the encampment to town each year. CO's 4th event is going nearly all out to bring us to their event.
If we can get more flying sites to recognize our contributions, the more they will be receptive to our cause.
When you buy gas, buy breakfast, or spend any money: let them know that you are a hang/para glider pilot.

Fly Week
I'm planning to go, sounds like a good vacation. I can haul a few gliders too if you want to fly to Denver or Colorado Springs and take a car from there. First come first served.

Colorado Fly week
Got back from a great time in Colorado. The flying was cut short by OD for the last 3 days, but early in the week it was good. Lots of fun meeting pilots from coast to coast and putting faces to names I've heard. Will Ramsey won the open category all from one nice flight that traversed the entire range and crossed Great Sand Dunes NP.
Big thanks to OP for driving for us and for saving Will's glider! When we left the cafe where we picked up Will, we found his glider was no longer stashed by the dirt road he landed on. We hunted around the town asking every kid and resident we could find if they knew anything. Then, while Will was filling out a theft report in the Sheriff's office, Orian hiked around the neighborhood and struck gold with one guy who had watched the glider being hauled away. A little more detective work with the neighbors and the cop and by 10PM we were back in camp with all his equipment.
