Quite a story from Walter's wife,about his old friend.

I received this note from Carol Ann, Walter's widow. Worth reading even if you didn't know Walter.

Subject: Walters good friend ken Schechter

This article appeared in the Dec 22 issue of the New York Times…Ken Schechter was Walter’s great friend from the days he flew as a flying midshipman and also college…we have remained friends all these years visiting each other at least once a year. Last summer grandson Kris Speegle and I went to visit Ken in the assisted living facility in Fairfield California.

Thanks for sharing this story Greg. Interestingly, Kris Speegle runs an Allstate Insurance agency here in Hilo, Hawaii. I just got car insurance there.
