Elsinore XC Meet

Post by Chip »

What: Elsinore XC Meet 2006
When: September 23-24

Elsinore club will be having the XC meet on September 23-24, that way event will not compete with labor day weekend. Ken Nemie is going to be the meet director. For More info call 951-694-2323. it will be a Race to goal format, with classes for topless, kingpost and paragliders. $50.00 entery includes tee shirt.

This is your chance to do some XC flying with plenty of other pilots out on the course. Great chance to learn about the great Elsinore convergence. Great starting place to go over the back like Doggone Bill did last week. He started at Elsinore got to Crestline and wasn't finished yet. He went OTB and made it to Victorville. :o

Kagelites Rule!

Post by Chip »

The first day of the comp ended working really nicely with the Kagelites kicking butt today on Elsinore's home turf :P . Rob Burgis and Ron Wiener ended up getting to 9.5k and both made goal (although Rob didn't enter the comp, he also didn't make the furthest waypoint N at Rad Dan's).

With the wind predominently from the N, the launch was from Edwards (west of the main launch used when conditions are from the N). Bill Soderquist was calling for 8k day. Our task was S to the main E Launch, back north 3.5 miles to Rad Dan's, then back south 21 miles to Pachanga casino.

Most pilots thought the day would be easy with the predicted Santa Ana's kicking in later. Others in the LZ and on launch felt the day would be difficult if the S wind showed up like it usually does south of the towers.

Long story short , here's the first day results:
Wiener 1st
Chippy 2nd
Bloom 3rd

Rob would have been 2nd if he would have entered and taken the 2nd turnpoint.

Overall sure beat waiting to see if the day would be launchable or going to Ave. S. Tomorrow we do it again.
