Re: Yosemite this summer. Save the date, as they say.

Just found out that Covid is still an issue.
We will each need a day pass (which I can get for all pilots)
Bridalveil campground is now reservation only and booked solid.
I will probably be "camping" at the same place as last year, just outside the park.

Re: Yosemite this summer. Save the date, as they say.

Since there currently aren't very many weekends with monitors it would be advisable to sign up early.
Otherwise the general flying public will take all of the slots.

Re: Photos of the old Kagel Bus

I just recognized my old hang glider. It was a Moyes Meteor (the Lightspeed of the day) the one with the rainbow undersurface. Pretty cool.

Re: Yosemite over Labor Day?

The purpleair site is showing that the last couple of days are getting worse. Lots of red and heading for unhealthy for all.
Does anyone have any insight into what the numbers really mean? Should we rethink this?

Re: Yosemite over Labor Day?

It looks like we may need to fill out a "self-certification" form since we will be too early for the gate. This year is a real PIA. from https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/covid19.htm Can I enter the park overnight? It depends on the type of permit you have. A day-use permit allows you...

Re: Yosemite over Labor Day?

George, the packet that we got from Chris on July 6 has Day passes that need to be attached to the Flight confirmation email for each participant. At least that is Chris and my understanding.

Re: Yosemite

And it sounds like next year we can fly, but not 2021. So if you want to fly Yosemite you should get your H4 sooner rather than later. This critical road work on Glacier Point Road is scheduled to begin in spring 2021. Glacier Point Road will be closed for the entire 2021 visitor season, and there w...

Re: Yosemite

For all of you newbies coming. Since we are done flying by 9 or 10 it is a tradition to then spend the day slowly drifting down the Merced with a number of stops so that it isn't over too soon. I would suggest buying a cheap Costco Intex raft. I have an extra "two person" one (if you reall...

Lots of non-Sylmar people are signing up for Yosemite, if you are thinking about going it would be wise to sign up soon.
You could always cancel later.
