Write a Letter to the Councilwoman

I did it. You should do it too. It's not that hard. Please do it. It makes a difference.

Re: Katherine Yardley - Sad News

I finally got out to Mahukona Beach Park on Dec. 6th. This is the location of Katherine's accident. It is a beautiful old harbor where the Hawaii railroad terminated. A favorite snorkeling spot with easy water access and parking. I noticed two gentlemen sitting around drinking Bud Light and I knew t...

Re: Katherine Yardley - Sad News

Here is an outstanding video you may have seen by Wayne Yentis. Time to look again. It's got so many beloved friends and some who have left the Earth already. Katherine Yardley at the 30 minute mark, Rome Dodson, Irwin too!

Re: Katherine Yardley - Sad News

I'm so sad to hear about this tragic event. Katherine was a precious person and so important to our club. I am here on Hawaii and if the is anything I can do to help, I am willing. I have made contact with the local authorities and await their instructions. Here is a brief news story about it. https...

WOW! That's unfortunate. I am glad to hear you are OK Richard. Don't let it become a career ender. Just get back to your conservative, normal launch procedures.

Hey Steve, when you found John Kangas, you found the right guy. He flies to work as a commercial pilot, flies to somewhere and back, then he flies home where he spends his free time flying gliders. He can help you find camping and I think you can camp on launch. It's BLM land, no facilities. It's go...

I always liked the cheap, rubberized gardening gloves from Home Depot. Barely warm enough and quite grippy. If you drop one in flight or you loaned them to Darryl, it's not a big loss. Easy to wash too.

Mike is right. Better plan on camping out. I advise planning to be east of the cloudy weather zone. Tokiko and I are going to be in Boise for the event. The day after the eclipse, I plan to visit King Mt. It is a great flying site with powerful thermals to great height. Y'know, over 1000FPM the vari...

It must be humbling to share your thoughts at launch and their outcome.
It's valuable to all of us who fly. You are a fine pilot Ken. I admire you.

Good point Don. A lot of people don't recognize the value of the electricity they use for a car or any device for that matter. As for an electric car, the cost of electricity is roughly the same as the cost of gasoline for the same distance traveled. After all, you are accomplishing the same amount ...

I Was Delighted

Delighted to see one of my photographs featured on our Homepage!
On that day we launched from Chief's and some of us flew the Topa Topas before landing at the Beem Family Ranch.
That was the day I placed a fake rattlesnake next to Oscar's glider and then launched.
Markus was there too.
Thanks friends.

Are you talking about that circular pit located east of the Volcano? If so, I have been there. It is a shallow man made container that looks like it was a water tank for animals or for a residence that used to be downhill from there. There is an old car in the bushes below there too. Some old maps c...

Although this is very bad news, we need to be careful and thoughtful about mounting any political efforts. Joe G is very gifted when it comes to dealing with politicians and Joe has much more at stake then most of us. Lets let him call the shots on any efforts to bring political pressure to bear. He...

Fatal Accident Near Las Vegas

I hate to tell you that Kelly Harrison was in a bad flying accident and he did not survive. He was flying tandem with an 11 year old boy who also perished. They were towing aloft behind a pick up truck on a dry lake south of Las Vegas. (Jean?) The line did not release and the truck made a sharp turn...

Hold the phone!! I have had some electronic devices get wet and after drying out well they work just fine. Even a TV set that had a vase of flowers tip over. Do you drink your coffee black? sugar may be a problem. Take the battery out and charge it elsewhere. If all that fails, my sister may sell he...
