T2C 144 for Sale

T2C 144 - Build date ~ 2010 (I believe serial number 298). All White sail with numerous patches on the leading edge and a couple small punctures on the top of the sail. Despite the sail repairs the glider flies fine. About 250 flights and 250 hours. Glider is stored in Sylmar. Asking $1,200 OBO. Pic...

"Joe Greblo Hook-In Check"

My routine is to do some ground handling on launch, put the glider down, and do a "Joe Greblo Hook-In Check". Sorry for the people behind me but that is how I was taught!

Saddle Blown Launches

Unfortunately, I'm in good company with blown launches from the saddle. Hopefully no one else will join the club!

Glad to hear you OK Rob.

My Blown Launch cost about $1k (which included a new helmet - because the old one saved my front lower head).

EV charging costs

Just to put some numbers on the EV 'freeloading' issue, it looks like (assuming 15-cents-per-kWh electric rates in Sylmar; I have no idea if that's accurate), that a full, empty-to-100% recharge of a Volt would cost about $2.50, a 100% recharge of a Leaf would cost about $4.00, and a 100% recharge o...

Look to those that you strive to be like

Over the years I've observed hundreds of pilots. Some have been absolute A-holes, most are reasonable, and a small handful I almost "look up to". The top three of that handful are Joe Greblo, Rob McKenzie, and Owen Morse. Besides their never ending contributions to the sport I've noticed s...

[quote="MaluryI am all for wi-fi provided by our club and I don't mind if it is part of the dues. Aloha[/quote] Nice of you to volunteer to pay considering that the SHGA wifi signal is likely pretty spotty where you live! Until the club provides free, or greatly subsidized, gasoline for all mem...

"Free Electricity"

How do we keep the neighborhood meth people from using the wifi? Seems the vending machine and free electricity are already a significant attractant to their kind. I haven't seen any of the neighborhood residents using any electricity - but I have observed club members charge their electric car - a...

SHGA is bad???

I can only comment on the reaction when someone lets the nose of their glider touch the ground and the immediate comments from the pilots in the LZ. SHGA is a near model of perfection compared to the large number of F'ing A-holes at that large club just 50 miles East of Sylmar. Talk about a group of...

Crowds

Someone at CSS said that registrations for Demo Days was at ~500! Sounded completely out of the ballpark to me but I have no basis for knowing if it is true or not. If the numbers are even remotely close to that - it could be an absolute zoo. If that is your idea of fun - go enjoy! If I was even goi...

Battery Pack

Several weeks ago I THINK I lent my battery pack for a Vertex 150 to one of the mid-week "regulars" and did not get it back. If you have a battery pack that doesn't belong to you I would appreciate it back.

It has been over a week and not a single word from Pilot "B". Any reason? For what it is worth - I had the experience of being in the air at the same as Pilot "B" about a month ago. While there was no specific issues - I never the less have never felt so uncomfortable. Just bad v...
