Re: Falcon 2 195, Z5 Harness, 5030 GPS Vario

Frederick-
I’m kinda interested in your Falcon.
Do you still have it?
How much do you want for it?
Can I fly it on Sunday?

A little history of SHGA

I ran across this article on the early history of SGHA. It is a good summary of the politics involved in the formation of SHGA, and the reasons the Club needs to be mindful of its role in the community.

Re: Congratulations Joe Greblo on Rob Kells Memorial Award!!!

Joe, congratulations on the Rob Kells Award. I endorse every one of the kind remarks in the USHPA article on your dedication to our sport. I only wish I had been asked to comment. In my book, you’re the real-deal hanggliderguy.

Barton's at Kaiser Hospital

I spoke to Barton today. I have his cell number, but I'm not publishing it here because I'm not sure he wants a lot of phone calls right now. His prognosis seems good, but he sounds like he's heavily medicated. Go figure.

He's not at SF General, but at Kaiser

The slide rope broke on my older-model Woody Valley when I was flying over Little T road, and my backup strap was so long I had to hang by my armpits over the control bar. Rather than try to land that way, I threw the laundry. Since then, I check that rope regularly, more often than every six months.

I visited Ron for an hour this afternoon. He looks very well physically but he slept for the first 30 minutes. So I just spoke to him all that time, with very little reaction from him. I know he wasn't understanding what I was saying, but the important thing is for him to hear a voice, and hope that...

Alarcons' Convictions Reversed

The L.A. Times reported today that the convictions of Richard Alarcon and his wife, for falsely claiming to live in his electoral district, have been reversed. While an L.A. City Councilman, Richard Alarcon was strongly supportive of hang gliding and of SHGA. He took several tandem flights with Joe ...
