Re: Photos of the old Kagel Bus

I had that sign made at Magic Mountain, then installed it in the bus, with the old helmet stickers for H-2 and H-3 added. Still have some stickers.

At the roll-out, no one was allowed to look at the trailing edge of the B-2 because that part of the design was still a secret. But there were no restrictions to flying overhead, and someone got a photo from an airplane. That ended the secret.

I flew with him at this site, a year after this was filmed. Drogue chutes were being used by some pilots who thought they helped their landings, while most pilots thought they were not useful. After a few years, drogue chutes were no longer used.

Air Show weekend

I have some 33 year old, very-low-hour Seagulls, but I will miss it because of the Santa Paula Air Show. Lots of great aerobatics, only once every 5 years.

New Web Site

There is a new website that shows air traffic over Southern California. It is designed for residents to identify noisy aircraft and report any problems. For security reasons, there is a 30 minute delay.

Dockweiler Beach Party

Cartoonist and former Kagel pilot Harry Martin has just made available copies of his painting from the September 2000 Dockweiler fly-in. The painting was signed by early Hang Gliding pioneers, then sold at auction. See http://www.cafepress.com/hmcartoons/3551383
