Re: RE: Think Again

I think you are on the right track. My point was that you just can't take funds into a C7 and pass them along to some other non-charity. You have to remain consistent with the stated and approved purposes of your C7 and with the restrictions you accept in exchange for the ability to issue tax recei...

Re: Think twice

Better talk to a good tax attorney before trying this "and then passes the funds to the club" with funds from a (C)(3) to a (C)(7). - Alan I don't see a problem with it. Depending on how we set it up, it should be fine. Many hospitals and musuems have separate charities set up to collect ...

The other benefit of creating a separate C3, if we decide we don't like the extra paper work, we can just close it, with no effects to the club. Granted, our $75 dues won't be deductible, but the real advantage I see to us getting a C3 would be for individuals who want to make a large contribution a...

I've been thinking of this for the past 4 years too. To convert the current club is difficult. Here's an alternative: Create a separate C3 charity. This way we keep the SHGA as is, run as is, and no worries about altering any of our by-laws or articles of incorporation. The C3 (which we could call t...

Room for one more? I'll be coming from Tehachapi, so I can meet at the Garlock LZ at 10:00am. I'll need a ride up the hill though... Oh, and I'll definitely need a ride back from Trona.

I stand corrected! Photographic proof trumps my memory any day of the week; Markus landed correctly. My apologies for believing and stating otherwise.

Markus, your landing rocked!!! And your pancake cooking skills are spectacular!!! Not to mention those amazingly delicious sausages you cooked!

Well, only 1 downtube was damaged on this year's Windsports Big Sur trip, and sadly, it was mine. Myself and Mike Ivey were able to catch a ride with larry Chamblee and his "big white whale" suburban, which was great because my tired old blazer would have a beast of a time dragging the hea...

Hi Mike, I have an extra tent you can sleep in. I'll bring it and help you set it up/down. As for sleeping bags, they're pretty cheap. If nobody has one you can borrow, they're $10 to $15 at Big 5. http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.com/big5/default.aspx?action=detail&storeid=2503823&rapid=0...

So just to make sure I have the pricing current: we would be using "Paragliding Trips" http://www.paraglidingtrips.com/iquique/tour.html We would be taking advantage of the Iquique Days 3, for a price of $1,790, which includes hotel, breakfast, and local glider transport. On top of that, w...

I showed up yesterday, late in the afternoon, to try out my furniture dolly with a bucket on it. I think it works pretty well. I left it there in the tunnel in case anyone gets the opportunity to use it. Notes for usage: Tie the ropes onto the dolly itself. Use a broom to clean where the wheels roll...

Rob, how about putting one of the galvanized tubs for beer bottles on a furniture dolly. Then tie rope to the handles on both sides. Kind of like what they used to dig the tunnel in the Great Escape.

I can bring a furniture dolly this Saturday if anyone thinks this will work.

Animal sacrifice equals Epic conditions in Big Sur

By using up most all of the bad luck on Friday, it made for epic conditions on Saturday: around 8,400 feet as the highest. I had hoped to leave L.A. on Thursday, but work prevented it and I didn't leave until Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, I had packed enough firewood in my trailer for 3 days of b...
