Marc,
Last year we had two campsites and somehow managed to cram 10 vehicles in. If this year even comes close to repeating that there will be no room for an RV. If they really want to come along I would suggest reserving another campsite.

It was so great to get back up to Sylmar again! You guys have an amazing club and I'm so glad I finally managed to get myself out of San Diego to fly with you all.
Cheers,

2) If you have your hands closer together you are giving up roll power. If you have them farther apart, you get that back. (Try putting both hands right next to each other and try and fly that way.) Sidetrack... (Perhaps the start of another thread) In Dennis Pagan's book Performance Flying , one o...

Having sunk out and landing in the main LZ :x, and playing chase for BJ, I need to get back up there and redeem myself as well.

Hey Joe,
Do you know where one could find a copy of that film? A google search doesn't return any solid results and Netflix certainly doesn't show anything by that title.
Thanks, -Jay

Re: Big Sur 09

I may be able to go up early with someone to help save sites. Would prefer not to drive my vehicle this year. Turns out I have a mandatory training to attend the morning of 9/24 and will be able to leave by noon on the 24th if that helps at all and if there are others going at that time. Thanks I'd...

Jonathan, Interesting overlay with the wash and Pasadena's borders. There is a strip of non-Pasadena land. I wonder how it looks. My hope is to get the law changed though, so we don't have to thread the needle to land. Watch out. If it is legal to land in that spot, the only way to get your glider ...

Re: hang gliding in Pasadena

I would like to be updated on what, if anything, the City of Pasadena has to say to your inquires. We have some coastal bluffs in north county (SD) that many of us have flown for 30 years. Several years ago we were almost cited, but weren't due to a reasonable Sheriff that let us off with a warning...

The answer is that there are actually two slabs in Hiro's design. The first is on-grade and would keep moisture from seeping up from the ground or pooling under the stored gliders. The second slab is elevated about 30 inches by stem walls supported by below-grade footings. The second slab is the wa...

Here's what I posted to hanggliding.org earlier this week: We drove down Thursday night to the Baja Seasons Hotel. Friday morning we found out the restaurant at the hotel had been closed for three months due to lack of tourists. Not wanting to stay at a semi-abandoned hotel, we moved over to La Fond...

If there is still room, I would like to join this trip as well. The down side is I will need someone to grab my glider in Sylmar, and then pick me up in San Diego along the way. I'm right on the 805 freeway so it won't send anyone off the path. Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks

Are you talking about Heather? She had a bad step down in the wash, not a gopher hole. Has her knee surgery next week but will be back in the air in no time.

..............your landing is more or less analogous to overshooting OUR l/z entirely............. Actually, I landed in the LZ which is bounded by the sandbags. The problem was the berm around the perimeter. The direction I landed is less than 1/3 the length of the Sylmar LZ. The prudent direction...
