Re: Kevin in Hospital

It's always great when these kinds of topics trend toward descriptions of recovery. The accelerating advances in medical technology remind us that we should never say "never" on what the future brings. I still remember the worldwide media coverage of the first heart transplant. A buddy of mine got a...

Re: Appeal to USHPA Region 3 Director Ken Andrews

Without getting into a protracted debate (which I will not do) Ken took office for the first time Jan. 1 2016. If you have been hounding him for "a number of months" now, I'd cool your jets, give the guy some time. How much time Richard? I've been unable to fly my favorite sites for 5 years now. It...

Here is an outstanding video you may have seen by Wayne Yentis. Time to look again. It's got so many beloved friends and some who have left the Earth already. Katherine Yardley at the 30 minute mark, Rome Dodson, Irwin too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FvqIhDBn3E&list=WL&index=9 Thanks Malury. ...

Since the SHGA forum has been relocated, the previous link no longer works. Here's that same link updated to the new address format: http://shga.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5305 By the way, it is highly disappointing that Joe Greblo appeared to harbor (and possibly spread?) an incorrect ru...

Bob Bendetson's Complaint

A week ago today, I was at Dockweiler with two friends that I know through work. I brought them to Dockweiler for a fun day of flying. You can see some pictures here: https://ushawks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=2749&start=220#p26690 Bob Bendetson was teaching, and he did a fine job. Thanks Bob. A...

Re: Discussion with Bob Bendetson at Dockweiler today

Thanks for the help. The comments that appear to have offended Bob Bendetson were in Doug's "Ken Andrews is a tall and brave pilot" topic. I have reviewed that topic carefully, and I suspect that Bob Bendetson's sense of offense was magnified by his own sense of guilt for not taking action when he w...

Discussion with Bob Bendetson at Dockweiler today

I had an interesting discussion with Bob Bendetson at Dockweiler today. Bob complained that he felt I'd been too critical of him in some of my posts. So I came to the forum with an open mind to review my past comments. However, I haven't been able to find them regarding Bob. If anyone can help, plea...

I think this is a worthwhile discussion but I'd say it's under the wrong thread and probably the wrong forum category.
Just like any human conversation ... topics do wander. I've been moderating the U.S. Hawks forum since 2010 ... it's like herding cats.

Sincerely,

Re: WINGNUTZ for Regional Director

My report shows the Northbound pilot was 70% to blame, Donald trump 30% to blame. The Torrey web site states that paragliding requires a P3 with 50 hours of flight time. A P3 rating requires only 20 hours. So the Torrey "requirement" is 2 and a half times higher than the requirement for a new P3. I...

Re: Two Dead at Torrey - Paragliding Collision (March 9, 2019)

Self regulation by USHPA? Accident reporting by USHPA? Accident investigations by USHPA? USHPA is already treating the dead pilot's ratings like state secrets. What does that say about USHPA's ability to provide any "self regulation"? Alan? ... Ken? ... Lawrence? ... Erika? What were the ratings of ...
