update: The scorer forgot to give Greg his hero points. The scorer was notified by another participant and she said she would correct the oversight. That should move his finish up several positions.

Results are in. I did not get enough pints to improve my lot. I finished 31 out of 39 pilots. Greg Kendall finished 23, a little more than 2 points behind 22. Kraig Coomber did win. MOYES GLIDERS TOOK THE FIRST 5 PLACES. Mike Bilyk from Crestline finished 3rd and ahead of Jonny Durand, who was forth...

Day 7: Hardship day but I did not come away with a broken heart. As I started my tow and still on the dolly I felt rain drops. The tow went ok but I pinned of early because I seemed higher than usual and I felt some good lift. I turned but couldn’t find it again. Then I noticed I was on the far si...

SCFR day6

Day 6: It was a technically challenging day. We flew 15 miles south east down wind, 31 miles north west into the wind, then 16 miles south east back to the motel. After pinning off tow I found a slow climb with one of the Swifts and a couple other gliders. We drift outside the 2 km start circle. 7 m...

SCFR day5

Day 5: The Hurricane missed us, or maybe it decided that it liked New Mexico better. We got to FLY! By the time of the briefing at 11:00 we had casper clouds (friendly Cumulous) and light winds. The called a task 10 miles to the southeast, 17 miles to the northwest, 21 miles to the southeast, then 1...

If you mean the RX3 it is here in Arizona. I will TRY and bring it back. If you do mean the RX3.5, I promised mine to Matt Barker. So sorry.

SCFR day4

Day 4: It’s been so long since I’ve flown my desert landing bruises are starting to fade. I don’t think I’ll shave until I can fly again. If I can fly again I’ll join AA. If I can fly again I’ll buy Jamie’s entire lot of out dated women’s competition t-shirts (at the close out price)...

SCFR day3

Day 3: Today we had the WORST pilot briefing I have yet to experience. The hurricane is headed straight for us and is expected to pass overhead 8am Thursday. No task called. Jonny Durand handed out daily prizes. Anna Eppink made goal and got 4th for the sport class of 16 pilots. Another surprise is ...

SCFR day2

Day 2: At the pilots briefing they told the story of Greg’s heroic efforts to aide a (not really) injured pilot. They told us that there is a hero’s rule that says he cannot be penalized for his actions. They will take Greg’s daily average in points for the rest of the meet and will apply it t...

SCFR day1

Day 1: We picked up a couple of sport pilots to fill the chase truck. It might me a little harder on our driver because they always fly a different course and sometimes a different direction. Mike Digtoff said it would be no problem. He is the best driver I have run across. My jitters go away once I...

SCfR2014

Day minus 1= jitters. We got a room on the 5th floor. I like to be lower (no it is not the pryciak influence). High up means I have to wait for the elevator. The jitters make me take the steps when I haven’t been going to the gym lately. Pilots meet at 8pm in the bar. I go at 6 because I remember ...

If the red slayer thinks he slays, Or if the slain think he is slain They know not well the subtle ways I keep, and pass, and turn again. Far or forgot to me is near: Shadow and sunlight are the same: The vanish’d gods to me appear: And one to me are shame and fame. They recon ill who leave me out...

It is not difficult to fly. You just have to throw yourself at the ground...and miss.
