Wow!! Just amazing. The LZ is huge now and I like it. All brush and obstacles cleared. Great work all. The fire has it's blessings. One has been the outpouring of energy and determination by this clubs members. Our employers would be impressed with what we can accomplish if you don't pay us. The dif...

I was considering hiking up Kagel in the near future and after reading the posts in this thread I have a few questions: 1) Has anyone hiked up it recently? 2) What condition is the trail in? 3) Did you return alive? 4) Is it legal to carry a handgun on that trail? 5) Do I have to wait until the lion...

Thanks guys, From this discussion then my conclusion is that I will make my approaches on the faster side and will reduce only when needed such as a short LZ. My default approach will be faster than what seems just OK for the conditions. I feel speed like altitude is better to have as long as possib...

Best Hang Gliding Videos
I figure we should have a topic here that links to the best videos of our sport. I just found this one today and it's pretty cool from NZ. Really makes it look easy.

What the hell was all that? I can't even follow it. Are you guys married...to each other? As for George's opinion, I want it and value it. He has a long excellent record of flying successfully and more important, safely. I want us all to have that. I will suck his brain dry. Anyway, for this discuss...

Thanks Christian, and I will talk to an instructor, but I would like more discussion here to have it up for everyone to see and discuss for current and future readers. Your suggestions make sense. I guess I really mean a very fast approach but slower than maximum. My concern is avoiding the problems...

Since I have been the one providing and maintaining the triangular streamers in the LZ, Are there any suggestions about improvements to them on my next round of rebuild? Location, more of 'em, etc.? I think they work well and seem to hold up, but they are probably 5 years old and will need redone so...

I fully respect your decision for yourself, and agree with your advice to advanced pilots to reevaluate their level of airworthiness and the glider appropriate for them. That's not being a pussy, it's just smart. On flying in general for me, I feel completely different. While I hope we never see ano...

Joseph, I think your concern is quite possibly the seminal issue going forward for the club. Basically, how do we get the club business done with participation waning? To me the answer is: Streamline the business and improve the participation Streamline: (less sacrifice) 1) Weekend meetings would he...

Yeaaaaaa! As with all the board members, we're lucky to have you. As I have said before, what you guys do is an gift to the rest of us. In my view, it's not fair to expect a lot from a purely voluntary board, and I'm not at all disappointed in the results. It does sound from an outsiders point of vi...
