I just spoke with Walter. He is mentally strong and in good spirt, but in pain with difficulty breathing, and says he would like to wrap everything up and get it over with.

He is getting a morphine drip installed today.

Walter in a Hurricane!

Walter loved to join our Hurricane road trips to Utah, where he is a go-for-it wild and crazy guy always in the middle of the fun. Yardley and I were always keeping an eye on him and picking up his stuff as he zoomed from one adventure to the next on these trips. I am yet to met a guy more ready to ...

The Trip is in the Bag Pilots flew Saturday and Sunday with stand-in Site Monitor Joey pitching in to help Barton, who unexpectedly found himself preoccupied with personal business. Two newbies, including Jeff, got to make their first flights there. I supplied pilots with toasts of Walmart's cheapes...

I remember it well. At the following SHGA Club meeting, we presented Katherine with flowers and showered her with praise.

Those were the days!

Barton --
I promise to restrain myself, but only if you too fly down with us, and can guarantee water in the river this year!

Google Earth Features Hang Gliders Over Kagel

The latest update of photos over Kagel shows three gliders in the air around Kagel, and more in the LZ.

Check it out!

Carter Oosterhouse Hang Glides at SHGA on TV Series "Extra"

Joe Greblo's version of a hot date? Did Oosterhouse really point towards a hottie standing by the BBQ in the LZ, or was he speaking hypothetically?

Stay tight with your instructor, and use his methods rather than the independent cafeteria approach to learning. If you are with a good school (like Windsports) they will give you the best there is to offer in this area of coastal dunes and sunny mountains. It will give the the best airtime the fast...

I was at Alex's funeral in Santa Monica yesterday. There was some concern over if these contributions will be going to Alex's widow versus Alex's oldest daughter to cover her funeral expenses. Do you know how the money will be directed?

Catholic Viewing, Rosary, and Mass -- A Primer

For us non-Catholics wishing to pay respect to Alex by attending his funeral, I did a little research to learn what to expect and what to do. The following is what I came up with; if anyone has more a specific or accurate suggestion on attending, please post a rely! Monday Viewing: Self explanatory....

Within 45 minutes the rescue services were stabilizing him for transport. [continuing from above] In the meantime, the rest of Hungary Joe’s XC clinic was learning how to break down in very high winds on the top of Cedar Mountain. That completed, the raft of disappointed pilots hustled down the mo...

2007 WINDS OF A HURRICANE FLY-IN -- THE STORIES

The trip is over, the boys are back home, and the gliders put away. A good time was had by (almost) all, with some terrific and high altitude XC flying from both Hurricane and Cedar, glass offs from Hurricane ridge for Hungary Joe’s goofballs, and an unexpected parachute ride. I had three good fli...
