The Law: http://www.ceres.ca.gov/planning/cup/condition.htm Note that a CUP has nothing to do with Building and Safety. The CUP appears to be a sort of variance to the existing zoning ordinance, not a stand-alone exception. Tha LZ is zoned as A1-1XL, which is an agricultural zoning. As far as I can ...

I was wondering what was up with the project. Thanks for the update. I just did alot of research into variances, here are some notes from my experience: A variance is essentially asking the local legislators to make a special law that applies only to you. It has nothing to do with B & S, but wit...

Oh, just realized you broke the LE as well. Yes, that was worse.

Ever seen a bird dragging a broken wing? Saddest sight in the world....

I can't help feeling that plenty of guys have done just this and called it "whaddayagonnado, got popped but no stitches, that's real flying for ya." I can't help feeling that alot of people would call it "breaking a downtube on landing " Eric is calling it what it was: a crash. ...

Thanks for the report.

I think taking off and flying 12 miles and landing safely in a hang-glider is pretty impressive.

Not very many people can do that. Very few actually.

Looks like he forgot a pin/bolt.

The basetube seperates from the down tube.

Chasing away the bitter cold of Sylmar. What's best?

In the 100+ degrees that is typical of Sylmar, I dream of sitting in front of a fire, wrapped in my warm blanky. Brrrr.

The only thing better would be a jacuzzi. With a cup of hot cocoa.

There is more than the forum? :)

I think what is being talked about is a visual guide, like the mentioned photographs of LZ's, and not just a list, which is not very clear to someone who is not very experienced.

Cool Flying Imagery

Here is a very interesting technique for making real landscapes look like minatures. Some interesting looking fly-over imagery in here, especially the first half. Reminds me of flying, the sort of abstractness of it: http://www.bentimagelab.com/sg/pages/HH_Video.htm How they did it: http://www.benti...

This board is all ours, no worries. I paid 120 per piece, which was about 12 x 20 feet, I think. This was "new" price from surplus. Also paying L.A. film production "Idiot" tax. Online probably much cheaper. Mine had had a nylon rope around the perimeter. I used it on a music vid...

Greblo asked me the same thing and I came up with stretching camo netting over the containers. Using turnbuckles at the corners could make it nice 'n' tight and neat looking.

Cheap and designed for use outdoors.

Why on earth would anyone want a television and/or music in the LZ? Isn't there enough extraneous noise blaring everywhere else? I see this club as an oasis away from all the sensory overload that this city provides. I see no reason to import yet more noise pollution to Sylmar. The peace and quiet o...

Also, the windspeed generally does not drop precipitously, thus the term "gradient". If it goes from 25 to 5 suddenly there is something else going on, which is not what we are talking about. In a headwind, as the windspeed drops your groundspeed will pick up, (in inverse proportion), give...

Re: Adding decks/rooms later. In theory one can add anything one wants later, provided the foundation is robust and flexible enough. If the materials are consistent, and an eye for the design sensibility is retained, it can be just fine. Two schools of thought: 1. Build a firm foundation, and use ea...
