Hire a pilot

I could have sworn I saw the subject somewhere on here recently, where did it go. The topic was just like a club directory of skills, trades, etc.

2007 SIBL Ball Drop March 3rd

It's that time again, and I need at least 4 volunteers for this event. It's the baseball drop for opening day, March 3rd, the first Sat. of March. We need a safe hang 5 pilot, sorry, no aerobatics that day, and 3-4 people on the ground on radio. E-mail me if you can help. Chris Wolters Activities Di...

Mountain lions are cool, I hope nobody shoots them. I don't think anyone has ever been bothered by one at Kagel. One thing I know is, that if you ever find a dead animal and it looks like it has been covered in brush and branches and leaves, then it was most likely done by a mountain lion, and the l...

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to postpone the 25th anniversary untill next year, when the club turns 25. It's just a technicallity. However, the spring air, and the Dahlsten cup will still be big events.

25th anniversary MEGA event

Yes, this year the SHGA turns 25. To celebrate this, we will have an event that encompases the unveiling of the Bill Bennett memorial, the Dahlsten Cup, a chilli cookoff, a bar-b-que, a spot landing contest, a worst landing contest, a hike up and fly down event, an antique glider showcase; bring out...

Orange leatherman

did anyone find an orange leatherman on launch? I'm pretty sure I took all my stuff out of my pockets, as I always do before packing it in my harness. Oh well...

That's a really good idea. A third container as a room, with the possibility of being glider storage if it was needed. That would solve most construction issues. It's also not a permanent structure.

One thing that we won't have is the observation deck. It was a topic at the last meeting. As cool as it would be, it would create too much liability for the club. There will also be no "water tower". With this being said, the possibility of a deck on top of the water tower is also gone.

I'm glad I started this comotion, I just wanted to see what people would think, but I have to say, I still think it would be cool to have a deck. We could connect the two steel storage containers and have a shade canopy. It would be really cool to make an awning from an old hang glider. The storage ...

That same thing happened to me when I was flying my Falcon 1. I was going like 70 mph, and I started freaking out, but then I realized my airspeed indicator was upside down.

Gazebo madness

The gazebo will eventually have to be rebuilt: soon. What do you want, club members? Personally, I would like a concrete slab, larger shade area, maybe a steel frame, and on top, an observation deck. That would be a fun place to watch people whack. I would also like a permanent restroom, it would be...

Marketing isn't my main concern, however, I have some realy good ideas for it. Not just marketing to get new people to join, but also exposure, and improving the image of the sport. Most people think we still fly Rogollo style kites. My main concern is survival, and what I mean by that is our site. ...

I've been wanting to make a funny hang gliding movie for a while, and a few people want to help. I worked on one called Pterodactyl, a straight to video thing, and don't forget Vampire Bats. One thing I was thinking for awareness marketing, was to go to a college and set up a table with info etc, an...

hang gliding in Greece?

I might get to go to Greece this summer. Does anyone know anything about flying there? James Bond, For Your Eyes Only, and Sky Riders both filmed hang gliders flying over the monesteries at Meteora. I haven't found much on the internet yet, mostly paragliding stuff. I'd hate to be a normal tourist a...

I've gotten high enough to go places before, but I haven't left Kagel yet to go anywhere. One thing that would help newer people like me would be labeled arial photos showing emergency lz's, and places to avoid. A video would help also.
