Litespeed 4.5s For Sale
it is in good shape. not sure how many hours on it as I bought it used also. it flies great; you may recognize it as one of the last gliders to land:) If i can sell it I will buy a brand new glider. Otherwise I will just keep flying it and maybe just get a new sail at some point. The break even poin...

radio chatter at Sylmar, 2011-12-10
OK, something different. The focus is entirely on the radio comms. My voice recorder seems to be working; I overlaid it with my video. Perhaps a little bit noisy, and my darn cold sniffles, but more than average amusing dialog for a flight. In the end probably it's probably boring to most, but once ...

yep, things are pretty slow at work right now:)
Nice to see at least 4 full truckloads of our members commit some aviation on Sunday. Marcus (via his totally awesome beach party video) inspired me to see if I could do some reverse video with my software also. And try throwing in an "effect".

Unbelievable and horrifying cockpit, AF447 crash
i don't usually pass these things along, but... http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/aviation/crashes/what-really-happened-aboard-air-france-447-6611877 we are pilots in a type of aviation where we spend most of our time managing angle of attack (and little time hitting de-icing buttons, engag...

Hey Orion, that is what I was talking about in my previous post (which was a response to George but has somehow appeared before his response). Glide ratios should be thought of with respect to a perpendicular angle with respect to gravity. So on an infinitely large non rotating perfectly round plane...

Hey George, I was gonna post the same response but you beat me to the punch. And did a more thorough job than I would have. But also a fun thought to me, is to consider a glide ratio of infinity to one. Basically a perfect wing that had a way to avoid all energy losses from drag, resistance, etc (no...

wow, amazing footage. Our feathered peers are beautiful but it is true that sometimes they are not looking where the are flying or clearing their turns. We've all seen this. Like in video, I have done the same thing, yell when you feel they aren't looking. This seems to help, but you have to do it s...

2nd Place in the Simi Valley Acron Photo Contest
Hey folks, I've gone professional now - I actually got *paid* for a picture. Now if I can win at least one of these every hour I can quit my day job:) It was the Vacation Photo Contest in the Simi Valley Acorn local newspaper. Winners were printed with the Oct 7th Edition. Note: this photo beat a ph...

It took me six years. But I think you can't compare the skill needed to fly at Torrey or Yosemite to that of a hang 4 - those two sites have some unusual/political exceptions. Which I think is a shame. Most of the other sites that I have flown around the USA are either hang 3 or below, and the very ...

that is an awesome video. thanks for converting and posting. deploying a drogue chute? Seems he was already flying one:) Still though, if Gary is utilizing a drogue chute for landing a Phoenix 8 glider in this LZ how tough is going to be on a topless with the new construction around and debris in th...

came out OK I guess. Just haven't made a video in a year and wanted to keep current with the software.

free tandem flights for students
Hello SHGA member and instructors, I'd be happy to setup some tandem flights for hang gliding students who have achieved at least their Hang I. More importantly, I'd like to make this offer to prospective new students and current students working toward their Hang I. My only caveats would be that th...
