The First Kagel Convergence is Here, Where is Everybody?

Sunday, September 17. Blowing down on the top, 8-10 S in the LZ. Everybody went to Ave S. The soarcast is good. Guys, you want to go up? They were sitting in the gazebo. Nah, they said, it's blowing down. By the time I set up, it slowly diminished to occasional puffs from S-E. The main streamer on t...

I must be really shaken and worn out of stress, for I mumbled something about going further but quickly gave up to the demands of fellas on the ground to land for Christ’s Sake. Inspected my trusty Aeros Stealth closely. Battens #2 and 3 were bent upwards. Outboard dive sticks/sprogs were bent dow...

I already told the story ONE BRRRAZZZILLLIAN times, think, everybody knows, and now I am being accused of trying to keep it silent, shish? …On Saturday, September 2nd, Jim Delear, Grant, Powerline Mike and I launched from Walt’s Point. Soon I flew into a strong lift band @ 11-13K which let me to...

Carrying a glider from setup area to near launch area while hooked in could be unsafe in mountain sites. I have seen at least a few instances, when the pilot lost the control and got turned/flipped/dragged (one of them cartwilled uphill!!!). I prefer to carry the glider to a safe place near launch r...

How many Sylmar Hang Gliding Association.com-s are there?...

How many Sylmar Hang Gliding Association. com-s are there you think? Well, Google it! The old site is still there. Even Windsports' SHGA link will take you there. It has the picture of my glider on the first page, which I like of course, but looks like the world has no way to tell the two apart, sin...

Flying Kagel with helicopter

Monday, January 30. My story: Several gliders were set up and ready to go and couple of them were already flying. The air was so hazy I could barely see the LZ, let alone gliders in the air. A helicopter approached from SE and circled above launch about 200' up. A pilot waved from the window, we wav...

A small supplay of 5'-7' sticks was on the bottom of the ramp last time i went down to put up a streamer there. A roll or two of a streamer material in the LZ will do the job, just take some up every time there is a truck going up.
