I don't think newer H3's are going to have an RLF and XC sign off... I sure don't. Why is this now a requirement?

I was looking forward to participating in the Sport Class too :(

I'm glad you made it out relatively unscathed, Rob.

Definitely a sobering reminder to take no part of your launch routine for granted.

This website will convert IGC to KML. It also provides a timestamp option so you can animate your track in Google Earth. http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map_input?form=googleearth I don't think it does the cool tail length thing that OP has in his video, but you can colorize the path by different facto...

Looking through the red dots, I found this: http://www.flytandem.com/accident/2012/009.htm "Specifically the base tube is suppose to insert through a cylindrical bracket and a locating bolt crosses through the bracket and tube keeping the tube from coming out. But the tube was not inserted past...

i'm sure you will get an answer to this (if not many of them) but to help frame the answer, who is asking the question? are you a sylmar pilot? do you fly hang gliders? I don't see a way to connect a forum username to a real person name. Yea, I'm a Sylmar pilot... H2 so I'm not surprised you don't ...

Thanks for the note about "sink management", Malury. It helped me have a really great flight last weekend. Usually I just scrub around looking for thermals the whole time, but keeping the sink part of the equation in mind, I focused more on conserving my height (turning wider or flying str...

wow, amazing footage. Our feathered peers are beautiful but it is true that sometimes they are not looking where the are flying or clearing their turns. We've all seen this. Like in video, I have done the same thing, yell when you feel they aren't looking. This seems to help, but you have to do it ...

I'm in, but I'm still concerned about not being experienced enough for the trip, as well as being on a falcon. It sounds like I could fly the coast pretty well, but heading out in the desert seems like it may require more in skills and equipment than I have.
