Walt's Point, Labor Day's Eve
My flight on Sunday was a kick. Got up right away at the saddle and plodded my way down the Sierras, at first between 10 and 12, then after awhile between 11 and 14K without any real hang-ups. After not hearing Gran'ts laconic, monotonic altitude and position reports for awhile, I found I was not in...

downtube bag
I lost a gray WW downtube corner bracket bag for a Talon. It must have blown away from me at launch and I didn't notice.

Elsinore contact
You might contact Mike Hilberath
eteamer@cox.net
His work number is 949-225-192 but I don't have his home.
If he won't be out there, he can probably direct you to someone who will.

For old farts only...
If you have old eyes and are interested in bifocal sunglasses for flying, I just tried these at Dunlap and they are easily the best and the best deal I have found. The magnifier portion is just at the bottom of the lens and smaller, so it doesn't get in the way at all for normal flying, but is there...

A, B or C?
From reading the entries here, and listening to comments, it seems clear that a majority of people want a classier, permanent-looking structure and are pushing for option C. In fact, even the way the ballot is worded, you are made to feel like a reactionary loser if you vote for anything else. I can...

Fireplace
A stove might give more heat but I don't think it is safer with kids around.

design of gazebo
There is one other thing we were talking about the other day that I would like to submit for comment. I thought it would be great to put a fireplace into the design. Think about all those cold days in the winter that we are hanging around there. It would be a great focal point. As it is now, we some...

Excellent weather and flying at Cotes
We had two perfect days at the cliffs where we could make the whole 10 mile trip to the point and back without breaking a sweat. It's a very beautiful place to fly with spectacular views. I get a kick out of being able to easily top land, kick back, and then take off again whenever I want. On Saturd...

The trip farther south to Cotes Cliff (Colonet) is on for this weekend also. (Sorry to compete but we were here first!) So far there are 4 of us heading down. See the Cotes Cliff event posting for more info or email me at greg@photometrics.net.
Hurricane
Something to consider also is that it seems to be in the monsoon season there in July and T storms are almost daily. Cedar mtn. was accessible on past trips, though there was a little snow around.

Cotes cancelled
It's looking like winds will be too north so we cancelled the trip. Definitely going in March, though. 3/24-3/25. Best time anyway, with all the wildflowers blooming in the desert south of Ensenada.

New rules at Elsinore
Elsinore is being forced to bite the bullet and join the world of regulation. Mike Hilberath asked that this be posted to the Sylmar pilots: NEW RULES IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY FOR THE ELSINORE LZ Each pilot LANDING at the Elsinore LZ must: 1. Be a member of the USHGA and EHGA, and have his/her USHGA ca...

Cotes Cliff (Colonet) trip
Cotes Cliff is a 10 mile long cliff along the ocean located about a hundred miles south of Ensenada. A group from Elsinore gets together trips down there every year, usually in January, February and March. I've gone several times but haven't been there in a couple years and I'm eager to go again. Ch...
