Hang Glider Racks That Go Around a Camper Shell

Post by chadness »

Hi folks,

in our attempt to replace the Suburban with something more reliable, we have purchased a used crew cab 4x4 Dodge Ram truck. We'd like to get a sturdy hang glider rack for it too. It has a camper shell.

I've seen Jay D and Andy P with the kind of racks that go over a camper shell. Anybody have any information on where to get these?

Thanks,
Chad

Hi Marc,

thanks for the links. I forgot to mention one other criteria that the back-most bar can be removed.

I need this to enable me to be able to take off the shell but still carry motorcycles and hang gliders at the same time.

The only one I found with this capability and the over the shell capability is:

Anybody know of any others?

Thanks,
Chad

There are 3 ladder rack- shell fabricators/retailers within a few blocks of each other between Roscoe and Parthenia on Supulvida. Go visit them, they will place the rack on the truck with a fork lift so you can see and compare them.

For 10 years I lay my gliders directly upon the fiberglass shell covering my pickup truck bed, with a rack solely on the front. That way there was less damage to the gliders, and the fiberglass shell was none the worse.
