Animation of a track log.

Animation of a track log.
I want to have the complete track log set from the typical pilots on a typical weekend day of flying. Then animate them all at the same time on google earth.
This is me from last saturday

I could teach you, but I have to charge. You know with all the boys in the yard and the what not.
J/K: Its a simple google earth tool. Just make sure to use a free screen capture software of the tour. Don't be paying google any $. They already get paid for all the searches they use against you. Your great, great, great, grand nefews will be provided a compete internet search log of yours.
Oh, I also think that exaggerating the terrain altitude looks better than the boring 1:1.

step one: type in www.yahoo.com
Second step: search for: www.google.com
third step: google for: http://www.google.com/earth/index.html
4th step: repeat steps 1-3 but use: http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html on the third step.
5th step: ...?
6th step: Profit!!!
I'll do a more detailed approach showing how to set the tail length and how to capture the video later. I have a flight to catch.

There is a $174 program called "See you" that does the same effect.

Doing it for free would be, cheaper.

What would also be cool was if everyone at the end of the day transferred your tracklog on to an SHGA server so and animation of all flights together at once could be seen.

I know this is an old post. Sorry to poke it with a stick but this cracked me the hell up. OP, you involved in some sort of computer support for a living?OP wrote:step one: type in www.yahoo.com

No, it just seems that 50% of my working hours consist of fixing office problems. I'm pretty good at the software and tools of my trade, but I end up fixing them almost as much as using them.
This reminds me that I do owe the people a how to video. I want everyone making track videos if only for my own enjoyment to watch. The "See-You" software is cool as that it has scoring software built within; Google earth does not. However google earth is free and works with cell phone tracks, GPS watches and 6030s.
During the spring comp, I need to get all the tracks from Chip. Animating them all at the same time would be neat-o.

This website will convert IGC to KML. It also provides a timestamp option so you can animate your track in Google Earth.

I don't think it does the cool tail length thing that OP has in his video, but you can colorize the path by different factors which is pretty neat.
Addendum: I just looked at Google Earth a little more and apparently the tail length is a feature of GE and not of the igc converter. So you can control tail length with the hook-shaped widget on the time bar.
