Death Of An Old Friend

Post by Jim »

We stopped in the parking lot at El Chaparral on Saturday evening, the only vehicle there: a very bad sign. Worse was the sign in the window asking "valued customers" to visit their other restaurant, El Presidente.

El Chap is gone forever, according to staff at El Pres. Rumor has it that Sylmar will be graced with another new establishment...
A second McDonald's. I'm so thrilled!

That is bad news. Loved filling up a long string of tables there. Maybe we should chip away some brick and spread it over Kagel.

"...They say they gave me compensation…
That's not what I'm chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
And what do I want with a million dollars and a pickup truck?
When I left my farm under the freeway."

MANY warm and sweet memories from El Chap! What's going to happen to Juan's mom's artwork? What's going to happen to all of us? Hold on to what's dear, my friends!

Damn, that's sad. So many margueritas under the bridge.
