DigiFly Audio

Post by Chip »

This weekend some of the DigiFly owners were discussing the audio settings for the sink alarm and the frequency not being to their liking.

Last night I finally did a deep dive on the audio settings of the DigiFly and attempted to make the sink alarm dramatically lower in frequency than the climb tone.

What I found out was that if you want a different base frequency for your sink alarm, you MUST choose MAN in the variometer profile setting. After choosing MAN, then the following parameters will be honored
  • Style
    Modulation
    Pitch
    Climb
    Sink
None of these settings are honored unless the profile is set to MAN.

The manual says the same thing but a little obscure

I have the settings to make the vario sound like the FAS profile for climb and will share those tonight when I get home.

I believe they are:
Style = 2
Modulation = 30
Pitch = 15 (I think, need to verify)
Climb = 550 (remember this is the base freq, it goes up from here)
Sink = 350 (the lowest it can go)

Using the simulator I was able to test these and it sounded correct.

How did you test with the simulator?

I turned on the simulator and manually adjusted the sink and climb rates, and got no tones out of it.

Make sure auto-silence is off. Otherwise you have to be flying, and then that completely defeats the purpose :twisted:

You would think that having the simulator on would cancel that setting.

Sounds like another enhancement request
