Not sure if anyone saw this or if there has been any discussion at the LZ.

Not sure if there would be any impact to SHGA?

Thanks Julieann,

This could be very important to the club.
The board I'm sure will discuss it right away.

Some relevant info - this is in a flood plain (zone AO) so building anything here is not going to be easy. See attached photo.

Also the land is zoned for equine keeping with the general plan being open space so building anything here is going to be tough.

Photo too big to attach, so here's the link.

Some horses are easily spooked. There's a horse ranch on the coast just south of Funston, and pilots are advised to be considerate of that issue.

$750,000? Maybe the US Hawks should buy it and explicitly ban all USHPA members from landing there.

Wouldn't that be poetic justice? :P

Only the past political climate and nothing else, prevented 2 previous attempts to build more than a dozen homes there. I view this as one of the more serious threats to our flying future.

The other two serious threats we should be concerned about are the sale and development of our launch site and any major conflicts with commercial air traffic in our vicinity.

It would be wise to discuss it thoroughly.
