Garlock - Sunday 9/2/07

Post by Don »

Some of us are planning a trip to Garlock on Sunday 9/2/07 (I know, I know - it is the day after Beergist's party).

Plan is to meet in the Sylmar LZ at 7 AM.

This trip requires a H3 or an "OK" from Greblo.

We have at least two vehicles with drivers.

If you are interested you must RSVP to me.

ok fine so now we are using the forums... excellent. I volunteer my self to be hauled around by whomever wants to let me grace them with my presents... ;) I am really looking forward to this trip. Have any of the experienced H4's decided to grace us with their presence? I hope so, it would be nice to have someone familiar with the desert. Hopefully Joe will come with us. Also since I got to fly last time if we dont have enough drivers I herby volunteer to drive. It seems only fair.

I believe the proper word is "Presence" :? (from someone that flunked English and almost all other subjects in grammer & high school).

As for using the Forum - great if EVERYONE viewed it - some, like Richard Shaw doesn't. And since Richard's wife has so kindly offered to drive ...

As for your volunteering to drive - very nice. But hopefully it won't come to that.

Good Garlock tips here, from last year's "Amazing Flights" Forum.

http://shga.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=161

Most active club members read the forum. Every member with an email address, which is almost every member, receives a forum update every Thursday, year-round. The Pilot forum now has 160 members. One year ago, 7/20/06, it had 80 members.

Airspace restriction

Post by Frederick »

I'm planning to go (RSVPd via email).

I recall that airspace restriction was M-F on my airmap. We were there on a Wednesday, July 4, so Joe had to call to see if they needed that space.

I think Eric and I should let someone else do the dummy service this time. I'm packing an inflight meal (and drinks with weight-saving drilled-out icecubes).

Christian,

Where the hell have you been. Always see you in the forums and never in the LZ. Whats up with that?

Haven't flown for six months. Had a dizzy issue, then came into a spat of work, now no longer current. Curse of the sport--you're either a hang glider or youre not, and right now I'm not.

Stuff

Post by Don »

We now have 10 pilots "signed up".

I'm planning on bringing two ice chests with lots of ice, soda, water. Probably not a bad idea for everyone to bring their own stuff - but some basics will be available to people.

I was also planning on suggesting that one vehicle return to the LZ as soon as possible so that if any one does sink out they can return quickly and get another chance.

Good Idea! It could happen that I sink out. After all, I need two more flights there for my 5 at 5.
