Qualified pilots are invited to join us on the Winds of a Hurricane Seventh Annual Fly-in. To be held on Independence Day weekend (July 1-4 -- Sat-Tue), last year 27 of the USA’s finest got high (14K) and went far (80 miles) in pure recreational flying. We always have a blast!
This free trip attracts intermediate and advanced HG/PG pilots and their non-flying companions (but no yahoos or wusses). We fly Hurricane Ridge, a 15-mile escarpment jutting 400 feet above the desert, located 130 miles northeast of Las Vegas and just outside of Zion National Park. Also, great XC is to be had from Cedar Mountain, with ample opportunities for newer pilots. Last year we sponsored a clinic by Hungry Joe’s Flying Circus. Green pastures, red cliffs, dust devils, rivers and friendly ranchers – what’s not to like?
We will be camping at the Zion River RV Resort, with hot showers and grassy sites. There are hotels around, which is a little antisocial but a lot cooler.
