Magnificant Mt Whitney - Saturday

Post by JD »

On Saturday, I joined VanNoppen and Dizzy for a site flight from Walt's Point along w/ traveling PG pilot Dave Turner. The weather was pretty mild but the lift was still good enough to get within just over a mile of Mt Whitney summit. I topped out at 13,600' a little farther down range at Tunnabora Peak. I flew my Seedwings Sensor and took oxygen which I had set for 5,000'. The O2 was a real bonus that made the flight far more pleasant and enjoyable. We had no chase driver but a local camper named, Chet offered us a body ride back up. 3 of us landed locally while VanNoppen landed at Independence AP. I shot 5-1/2 hours of video on two cameras and manged to edit everything down to under 30 minutes.
I hope you all enjoy the experience!

Thanks Steve. I wish that you and every other qualified pilot in our club was there as well. Hopefully, this inspires pilots to hone up on their x/c skills so they can enjoy the same and better vistas when the opportunity arises.
